Got my car license in 2011 passed thirst time with 2 miners. I was 22 before that I just had a motor bike. I still do. 2012 thirst car was a 2002 Peugeot partner van 1.9D(dw8) with 72000miles payed £400 and £1000 on insurance for me which was cheaper to have a van on full comp than third party, fire and theft and cars were £2500+ on insurance. which I thought was funny for me that a 306 hdi was the same price as a 1.1 106 on insurance.
I kept the van for 18 months sold it to my dad with (91000miles) after buying the 3 door China blue 306 2.0 hdi for £800 with 122000miles and £1000 on insurance. It’s £650 now with mods declared and no plans to sell I don’t think I ever will 143000 on clock now.
As for van Top vans I’d have one again but only with an 2.0hdi.

passed the test in June 1986 (learned in an unholy trio of Driving instructor´s Mini Mayfair, Fathers Metro CityX and Mother´s handpainted Toyota 1000)
Got my first car in September 1988
It was a (crap) brown 1978 Mini 1000 - rusted to hell underneath but with an absolutely pristine interior - passed for a very much younger car in poor light!
Paid Stg.300 for the car - a good price as it was very reliable and my Dad talked it through another MOT 11 months later.
Insurance was Stg.360 for third party only with Endsleigh - the university students´choice - other quotes were just silly. This was another good choice as I wrote the car off crashing into the rear of someone who had stopped suddenly and I heard later that their whiplash claim was settled for St.10,000 and, months after the car had been sold for Stg.50 scrap, they offered me a renewal for Stg.400.

Did it still have that dinger thing that went off if you exceeded 100kmh? Missus had an Jap-import '92 Toyota Corolla which was beautifully equipped but dinged like blazes on the M50 till we got it ripped out!

Mine was Nissan Sentra 1990. One of these "now and then" pics:

Drove the last one on holiday in Greece, great car, even for the mountains!
We really enjoyed driving amd staying in Athens, the city is impressive and has business potential IMO. Saw a couple of good hotels for sale in Athens https://tranio.com/greece/attica/athens/hotel/, thinking of investing myself.
