The problem is that the engine isn't in the car anymore so it makes things more difficult

Use a hosepipe. It's crystalline antifreeze deposits, which were at one time suspended in water...

Most of the accessible stuff will come out with a scrape. Dishwasher tablets when it returns to service will see it bubbling fresh.

Cheers buddy that's what I ended up doing. Got the head off the engine been sent away for a light skim if needed and a pressure test.

Only issue I have is now getting the crank bolt out to get to the crank seals.

So got the engine apart and started to clean it up and gave it a lick of paint and is starting to look nice if I do say so myself.

Also stripped the black bmw basically bare and sent that away to be squashed [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES][FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES].

Just need to set the valve clearances and then it should be ready to put onto the block 😀😀. Hopefully I'll get this thing running soon.

Been doing a few bits and pieces to the car aswell have got all the wiring and cooling bits off that and getting that ready to pull the engine out. Found out why the engine is siezed the aux belt snapped for the waterpump as I found it wrapped around the viscous fan so it looks like it was heat siezed.
