Changing Speed Sensor
#1
Hey guys,

So I ordered a speed sensor and it arrived today. I am just not too sure if its the correct one firstly, and secondly where the speed sensor is located.

I was under the impression its the first thing you can see when looking at the gearbox, but that upon investigation is a temperature sensor (3 pin hookup).

Please see my attached image of what I have.

Would you guys be able to explain where this sensor is located? If possible with the help of an image. I googled for it and came up empty-handed.

Thank you for the assist

You want to Jack the drivers side up as high as you can get it and that should stop the gearbox oil from leaking out.
it's on the back of the gearbox behind the engine.
there will be either an 11mm bolt or a torque head holding it in

Coolness! Will give it a go sometime soon. Need to take it to a garage to get a proper jack and stuff Smile

Holy thread revival etc...  I'm getting a really fluffy tickover (you can hear it missing, maybe one beat in 20) and the fuel economy doesn't seem anywhere as good as it used to be - and bear in mind she's a lot lighter than standard because I junked the whole cab roof and permafitted the hardtop.

Anyway.. I bought a speed sensor and a new lambda (both those on there are originals with over 200K Km on) but like the OP, I am  fooged if I can find the speed sensor.
I thought I'd read that on the 2.0Ltr it was "take the battery box out and there it is on the gearbox"  - but it aint  Huh

Where can I find this barstewardy ting please ?
