Sooo decided to paint the brake servo today

Heres how it came out

Only black paint i had was hammerite and wasn't the smooth one one was a hammered effect with metalic bits so after painting it with a brush and it looking crap decided to spray it , came out like this and tbh it will have to do, not that keen on it but its different at least lol.

hammerite is shite, as soon as you drop some brake fluid, it will take it right off again sadly.

Yeah I know, but budget is stretched already so it'll have to do for now something ill be coming back to for sure.

Primed the rest of the plastics on Sunday so they just need flatting back and spraying black.

Also got 2 of my wheels back today , and dropped the other two off.

They've done a really nice job especially considering I'v only paid for the paint and a drink on top the wheels look beautiful.

Anyway photos:

Thanks procta =)

Yeah that's what I've got, previous experience was with ta-technix but I imagine there about the same just changing the springs to one's with lower spring rate was well worth it on the 106 IMHO

Thanks mate ^

Okay so not much of a update as I'm up to my neck in other work that needs to be done before I can carry on with the 205 , mainly sort the misses a car, get my daily VIC tested and a ridiculous amount of work to my dads house but hopefully that will all be out the way soon

Iv decided I'm going to take the roof back to bare metal and respray as I'm not happy with the finish on the roof and I'm going to do the same with the drivers side rear quarter. May even cut the rear quarter out and weld a new one in as there's a lot of filler covering a pretty sizable dent Undecided

Managed to find some time today to collect the other two wheels look as good as the other two but here's some photos anyway

Got on and sanded the roof and rear quarter today also decided to remove the windscreen for easy access which didn't go so well and I've now got to find a new one...

The sanding and priming went well though another coat of primer and then hopefully time to get a colour coat on tomorrow

Here's some pics from todays progress

I've also changed image hosting from photo bucket to Flickr as the photobucket app I was using updated and was screwing up my phone with loads of adds so hopefully these will work okay

Looks good, I so want a 205 project. What paint stripper did you use for the wheels? I need to take the paint off of a fair few of my rims.

Thanks =)

Bartoline stuff at first which was a bit better than the new nitromores then Industrial eBay stuff I think there's a link on the last page

The eBay stuff is the good stuff that just rips through the paint

Little update, so spent the day putting the coilovers in which was a pig because the Allen key had been rounded off on the old dampers so in the end cut the shaft in half and welded it to the vice to get both the nuts off ! Anyway all done and hopefully get a bit more time over the bank holiday and get the engine in .

And the poor remains of the damper

And the roof is red now, sorry no photos yet

Raceland coilovers , seems pretty low and there's no engine in yet so should be low enough for what I want, may change the springs though if there a bit harsh

Managed to get the engine in today as well as a driveshaft clutch cable and some other bits.

How the engine got there - note the plywood on the right used as a ramp for rolling it out he he

Jacked the car up on one side and rolled the engine into place
[Image: IMG_20150405_103820262_HDR.jpg]

Lowered the car down and done up the engine mounts then removed the dolly's

Bolted a few more bits on and called it a day

That would be interesting, don't see many XUD convertibles about.

Yeah the strut brace will be going back in its only off because it got in the way of getting the engine in, I decides to give it a lick of paint whilst it was off to match in.

There's also a upper strut brace to go on.

I saw a CTi mit XUD power once, unfortunately it was in the scrapyard and I was having the fuse box out. I ended up making a new bottom support out of angle iron to support the radiator on, engine went in with nothing more than a trolley jack and some wood Smile

Bit of an update, started tidying up the engine loom today and finished painting the strut braces.

Stut brace may need some persuasion to fit properly
[Image: IMG_20150406_152031915.jpg]

Some of the crud to be thrown - need a new box for the fan relays
[Image: IMG_20150406_124817323.jpg]

Wires all exposed ready for taping up - waiting on an order - note the big red cable for the battery to go in the boot
