looking great there stef!! a lot of engineering gone into that with the cage! you cannot beat a good install setup inside!
Shame you don't have a spare wheel strapped down in the back like the rally cars had. Wheels look good too!
The mot tester must have been blind! Since when did a G plate car need a emission's test to pass a cat test, what a f*cking prat! All my tester does is fire the car up and let it tick over and that's it.
One thing I have for mine is a uprated fuel pump somewhere, that I did plan to drop in. But never bothered yet, I might do that if the tank starts to fail.
Got to love the tri pod snap there!

finally got around to fitting the new clutch. Got the box out within 15mins (sad i know) Pulled the oem clutch off showed clear signed of heat and was extremely glazed. Decided to inspect the flywheel for any issues, Apon inspection we found lots of stress cracks and lots of high spots. I wasnt happy about putting it back so got on and sorted another. There was only one choice really which was a billet unit from ttv, really didnt want to buy a s/h unit as ive see loads with high spots along with heat marks from oem clutches. Also fitted some new flywheel bolts from peugeot. Nice touch from ttv is the pressure bolts have now been upped to a decent bolt size m8 instead of peugeots stupid m7!

Flywheel has made a real noticeable difference, Omex has delt with the change well and idle is as smooth as it was before. Clutch is nice and wouldnt know it was a paddle but bites alot harder.

Car looks great mate, really impressive work! I noticed a picture of a PC680 battery a few pages back, I assume you've been using it? Just wondering because I've recently bought one but am slightly worried by the very low CCA number compared to normal.

Yeah battery is great! havent noticed any difference tbh, Turns over the car just as fast if not faster. I used some 35mm2 pure copper cable all over bit over kill but works. I just bought the charger aswell being a gel battery you cant just "charge" it.

That's good to hear, I may get 35 cable rather than 25 then. Didn't realise you couldn't just charge them, can you jump them like normal?
Looks like some nice shiney suspension you have there!

well i was only following their advice, bought mine with the charger and cradle for £125 i think. I bought all black cable as i refused to pay a premium for red coated cable, I just sleeved the black with some red shrink to denote positive.

Over a month since i updated this.

In that time ive blown the centre half of the exhaust apart like a bake bean tin! and cracked the exhaust manifold. Ive sourced another manifold which will be modified to fit. New system in the planning which may include a better manifold and will be going to 3" after a chat with sandy.

Other than that im still driving it everyday, still achieving 32mpg even with a heavy foot.

Had been "nursing" the engine for a while, started pushing water out and started to run hotter. Decided it was time to pull it out.
The original plan was just to lift the head and repair what was needed.

[Image: 38628097952_760c38635e_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

Which in turn changed to this.

[Image: 37772630425_51d03d34d2_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

Now it had become a full engine build and a engine bay tidy and repaint.   Itwasntme

Engine strip began

[Image: 38604453006_a520f421b6_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy
Yes a FIBRE gasket! I did 40k on this 35k with boost!

[Image: 38660276421_a0f08e7b34_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

Head and valves seemed ok.

The head was then sent to sandy to work his magic Smile

in the mean time the block was fully stripped and inspected, Big ends where in top shape but the mains had taken a small blow.
It really wasnt worth spending money on a cast crank so i raided the spare hdi engine for its forged crank Big Grin

quick test fit of the 88mm crank

[Image: 38660247651_b67f66e2d9_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy
xu5/7/9 thurst washers need to use this crank in a xu10 block.

block was cleaned and gave it a slight hone. The block wasnt scored or did it have any lip at the top it was mearly to score bore up.

[Image: 38604457076_9910beb754_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

genuine peugeot mains fitted to the block

[Image: 38628122522_3cb4fecbd4_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy
Pistons in and mated to the crank with some arp bolts.

Head returned from sandy

[Image: 24787730578_2de4170bdb_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

About as much as i can show you Tongue
The heat also received new valve guides, and serdi valve seats head was skimmed abit more than expected but wont effect the build.
head was put back on with a genuine gasket, genuine bolts and added some newman camshafts to the mix.

[Image: 38661688841_a224697f79_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

secretly there just boxes Wink

The standard exhaust manifold was modified, the flange appeared to be the restricting part as it really funnel necks down. I removed the flange and opened the collector to 3" to match the exhaust sizing i plan to use.
The mandatory v-band was added
[Image: 37942513844_6e9f426031_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy
............

.......

[Image: 26884542349_f22f7daec7_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

Wont stay that clean im sure.

I turned my attention to the engine bay.
I fully stripped all the paint off the bay with industrial paint stripper as it was easier. Then my good friend that paints at mclaren came down and painted the bay for me. Not bad considering the conditions.

[Image: 38660258951_8eea62a001_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

fuel lines were replaced to ali lines and clipped to the bulkhead.

[Image: 38603929436_34d0d78710_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy,
engine was lifted back in, surprisingly i didnt scratch anything lol

[Image: 37942446864_56cd19073a_b.jpg]Untitled by stefan golesworthy

Oil cooler was moved to sit behind the fog light hole in the valance.

started the exhaust build

The engine started for the first time, Ecu naturally isnt happy. Ill be getting it back down to sandy at some point.

This really take me up to where ive got to with the car.
