Pretty standard price to be fair, some people get issues with them, some don't it's pretty much luck of the draw

So you'd suggest buying a KWP2000 instead then?

standard price to be fair but from what i've read the KWP is more reliable.

Personally, I've had my KWP2000 for the past 4 years (?) and I've not had a single problem.. Others have though, as have lots of people with Gallettos

Worst case, it doesn't work.. you send it back and they replace it, at least it's a UK company

I've got a brand new unused galletto if you want it, couldnt bring myself to trust it after some horror stories but you can buy it off me if you want.

Seen the odd mention of MPPS as a better alternative over KWP2000 and Galletto units recently.

Is that the general concensus, and if so, are the various MPPS cables available all much of a muchness in terms of reliability etc?

A GENUINE MPPS then yes I'd agree.. but unless you're spending £1000 on a genuine one, you've got about the same likelyhood of it working, as a cheap KWP, Galletto etc..

So have I actually, how much are they usually and are they as easy to use as a KWP?

Thanks for the clarification.

To be honest I figured as much given that I guess most Galletto, KWP and MPPS units advertised nowadays are going to be Chinese clones and all that brings with it in terms of dubious quality control issues.

Ho hum, pays your money and takes your chances and all that.

^^ Yeah basically, spot on mate

Best advice is to at least buy *insert tool name here* from a UK company, at least any issues will be dealt with quickly

The only thing i would point out is that the mpps clones are said to come with software that works well on windows 7 and vista, whereas the kwp and galetto clones still don't work on anything newer than xp...

They do. My 3 year old £10 Galletto works perfectly fine on Win7 and Win8.... Don't know why people have issues with them??

Hmm, seems to just be luck whether or not it works with newer than XP tbh, cant see how but then I don't know much about software!

Must admit I haven't tried since the Win8.1 upgrade....hope it still works!

A large majority of the time, it 'not working with 7, 8' etc.. is just due to it not being installed correctly.
