205 Gti - What is this
#1
Found two plugs behind the passenger headlight, they don't look like they have been plugged in for a while,

gti doesn't have front fogs, the spot/driving lamps use a yellow plug

red plug is switched live for twin fan models, i.e TD and AC cars.

white 2 pin probably the sidelight.

White was the side light, can i cut off the red one and insulate it?

Got a new one tho, what is this. one wire connects to pin 35 on the emerald ecu, in the manual it says is user configurable

Rev counter adapter, Not needed if you mod the Rev counter
The red one is quite handy with a relay on the Rad fan's

Would it be as simple as soldering a wire across the pins like so http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php...881&page=2

[img][Image: revcounter.jpg][/img]

Then just connect the pin 12 on the emerald ecu to wire 112 on the back of the clocks?

Normally yes, 99% work like that, you do get the odd one that doesn;t play ball but just get another and job done

Iv got two here, the one i modified is just like the one in the photo, has got two yellow wires coming from the same point on the Pcb but one goes to the wire 112 (3rd pin) and the other goes to 112D (4th pin) but the clocks in my car only has one wire connecting to Wire 112 and wire 112D was in the plug but the other side of the plug(the clock side) had nothing to connect to,

Should i copy the original clocks and remove the pin and wire from the clocks that wire 112D would connect to?

If that makes sense?

Don't worry about the spare wire/pin on the tacho - it'll be fine just leaving it there.

The above method will work fine and have successfully done similar myself when I fitted an Emerald K3 to a friends 205. It's a much better method than using a tacho converter which are, in my opinion at least, a bit of a bodge.

Effectively all you're doing with the above is bypassing the aggressive filtering circuit that is needed when driving the tacho from a coil (like on the original 8v engine setup). The signal from the Emerald and most later ECU's (GTi-6 etc) is a nice clean 12v square wave and needs far less filtering.

Wire the tacho out (pin 12 IIRC) on the Emerald ECU to wire 112 on the 205 loom and it'll work fine with the above mod - as a bonus, it means Emerald's max rpm tale-tale feature will work.
