Anyone got any experience of these engines in the fiesta? Supposed to be great on fuel but not sure what to expect mpg wise, most likely getting one of these after Christmas Smile

MPG is way off the quoted figures tbh. Most people average around 40-50mpg on the Ford Forum, but some as low as 30mpg, there was a poll on it.

They remap to 145 too!
This is going to be leased privately, 125 cheaper than new 140 on lease by quite a bit
ST around £170 per month! Only £600 insurance at 19 too (cheaper than 306 HDI by £100... Insane!)

140 but thats only in the zetec s red/black editions. Mountune do a remap to 135 for the standard versions (will still be covered by warrenty)

Some reports online suggest the little 1.0 isn't anywhere near as economical as it should be. Could be just some unusual cases, but it's worth looking up.

New cars never meet their economy figures as they have massive holes in the fueling maps just to do well on the official MPG tests

You do all know how they calculate MPG figures for new cars right?

Based on the emmisions test. (C02 emmitted)

So first they drive the car on a level test track and record rolling resistances and aero resistances.
This is then fed into the indoor rolling road computer.
Then on a indoor testing rolling road the car is 'driven' at different speeds etc whilst reading the exhaust emmisions by which the mpg is calculated.
The hardest acceleration phase is 0-44mph in roughly 41seconds.


Hmmm, sounds like a fair test!!

Sister has got one, had it six months. Last time I saw she was averaging 38mpg.
