Yup, you're sooooooo damn right! Money rules everything unfortunatly....and when theres not much of it around that has a knock on effect of literally everything else. Sad

I know it sounds weird...but my old little nitro car sounded like that when there was little/no fuel. Is the fuel pump working? It may be supplying enough fuel for idle but not enough for anything else.

It doesn't sound like a rev limiter.

This has only happened since fitting the 6 fanny mould. It could be completely unrelated to it, but i would say its quitelikely to be something thats been affected by this.
You can be driving the car fine, then all of a sudden POW, this ^^ lol.
If it was a fuelling problem, surely it would be constant?

I think youve damaged a wire and its breaking intermittantly

why would this lead to the revs bouncing like this? Its a constant thing, exactly the same revs every time. I will give all the wiring a wriggle around later to check...

Back on topic...

Has it somehow slipped the timing? If its getting hot and you are getting "popping" from the air filter, the piston might be completing the bang before the inlet valve is fully shut causing the flame to come back out the intake?

Could it then be a sensor (possibly MAF) reading this and limiting it to 2k without activating the EML?

Far fetched i know...
