Galletto 1260 Windows 7
#1
So I've been trying to get the galletto to work with my 7 laptop today

First off plugging the galletto into the laptop caused it to search windows update and couldn't find anything resulting in a 'bum bum bum' noise when plugged in.
I tried to use the drivers supplied but couldn't get them to work because something .ini was missing

Uninstalling the device from device manager I tried a different usb port which resulting in windows update seeing it as a usb serial convertor and usb serial port (com 3) which installed and was happy, opened up the galletto 1260 software and clicked ecu data which said 'ok' then tried to read which took some time but came back with an error.

Any idea if the drivers that windows installed are suitable? or how to get it to work with windows 7 as the drivers in the cd and I got online are titled 'DRIVERS_EOBD2_2K_XP' which sounds like xp drivers and may be trying to use something that was in xp but isn't in 7 hence the error when installing?

Everytime I read the ecu data it comes up with different figures but a pattern, either sarr.. , lots of 000's or just a mess
Could this be a defective cable?

I'd go with defective cable, try another one... They're so cheap these things it's a wonder they work at any time...

Don't try and install the drivers through that program, install them manually through task manager.. aka select the device, update drivers, 'i know the location', then select the folder with the drivers in, it should then pick up the tool and install it properly

Yea I managed to get xp on the laptop , had trouble because hp fiddled with the acpi.sys which prevented xp installing
Cable still didnt work, seller wants me to post it back to them for a refund so I'll now be £2.60 down Sad

Unless they explicitly state that the buyer pays for return postage in the ad, then by eBay rules, they have to pay it.. Saved me a fair wad of cash on returns over the years

And it's definitely 100% installed correctly? So there's no hazard warning yellow triangle on any of the devices in device manager?

No yellow boxes on 7, there's a few on xp but thats stuff like floppy drivers, audio and power management
The usb serial port (com3) and usb serial converter are not yellow

If there's no option to change the com port within the galletto software then go into the settings within device manager and change the com port to 1 instead of 3, then give it another shot. It's definitely installed correctly though
