Almost forgot to update this for completions sake incase others come searching for an answer. A new flasher unit DID fix all problems, have had fully working indicators for a while now :)

I have heard about this issue before, and if I remember correctly it might be the indicator stalk is faulty. Not 100% on this tho.

For the past 3 years or so, when the temperature dropped to freezing the left indicator would *sometimes* flash fast as if a bulb had gone, but upon checking the bulbs all worked fine.

oooooooooh, yep. Well I'm a fool, I was fiddling around with the other tensioner, I knew something felt off from when I did it last time.

Whoops forgot to reply to this - it was the battery. Drove round the corner to local place and they tested it and confirmed it was dying, bought a new one and everythings sorted now :) |

Y reg Peugeot 306 HDi Meridian, just shy of 90k miles.
Deleted what I had posted previously, as it was all incorrect and I was pointing the finger at starter motor issues when infact it was battery... |

Cheers guys :) I've since checked and the cap looks like it is from a 306! So yeah I'm guessing previous owner or MOT guy lost it down there one day.
New catalyst arrived today, so hopefully back on ... |

Second time writing this out, first time I had a huge burning pcb smell right as I was about to hit post. Shutdown my pc and it just turned out to be a lightbulb. I forgot the new ones make that smell... |

Right well I went out this morning and used the starter trick, did a lovely job slackened it right off :)
Only problem is getting the new one on! Took the old pulley off, slid the new one on, start... |
