Thread: 306 XS Value
Post: RE: 306 XS Value
I would think the XS is still desirable within 306s. 3dr GTi looks with a lighter, more revvy engine and cheaper to fuel & insure. What's not to like!?
However, I'm not sure they're particularly ... |

Thread: CV Boot compatibility

I think most garages use universal stretch boots nowadays. Can be cut to fit any size plus it saves dismantling the CV joint and getting covered in CV grease. |

Thread: Turbo oil leak
Post: RE: Turbo oil leak
There were 2 turbos fitted to the HDi90 in the 306, so it could be either a Garrett GT15 or a KKK K03.
You should be able to find refurbished units online, just not ECP/GSF type places. |

Post: RE: 1.8 16v PH3 Meridian cold start
Lowering with torsion bars is simple in theory...
But everything will be seized solid and the bearings will be knackered now. I wouldn't want to be tackling it on a 20 year old 306 myself. |

Laser alloys?
I reckon you can hammer a small deep socket on the centre but not sure it'll grip enough. Irwin bolt extractors weight be worth a try. |

The splines are different between the TU engines and the XU engines.
Weak MA box fitted to the TUs! You should be fine with any box from a 1.4 or 1.6, or even a 106/Saxo etc with the same engine... |

Thread: New clutch cable needed
Post: RE: New clutch cable needed
Pull type clutch cables should all be the same.
In my experience it was usually the clutch itself or the fork bearings that made a clutch heavy though. Changing the cable alone rarely worked. |

Are they remote fobs or solid keys? If remote then just swap the blades over so the new blade is on your old fob. The chip probably isn't close enough to the transponder currently. |
