Post: RE: DeeC’s 306 VNT Turbo Build / Show Car Project

Give it a spin back and forth, it'll turn the alternator one direction, but spin freely and not spin the core in the other, if you struggle to turn it back and forth due to the weight of the assembly,...

If it's smoking when the turbo is spooling and there's no air leaks, it can be calibrated out, response will be moderately affected, but shouldn't be too much. If it's smoking once the engine is up to...

The offset and size of the GTI6 pulleys is different to the HDi, you'll find that the power steering pump is also different between the GTi6 and the HDi, it's because the maximum engine speed of the H...

Looking good! Be careful opening up ports on HDi cylinder heads, they're very sensitive to changes in the port as to the airspeed and thus swirl they generate, they flow pretty well as it is and you'r...

Worn HP pump, injectors, LP pump or shit map. Could be any of them. The brutal cut out is simply is detecting Rail pressure too low and assuming a leak and cutting.

If the pedal is jamming down, it could be the return spring, but if the pedal is returning, it'll be the auto adjusting clutch cable failing internally, replace the cable :)

If it's on permanently, it must fail - If it doesn't come on, they can't fail it but they must put down as an advisory.

This isn't electronic issues, note that there's no compression after it cuts out, this is a mechanical issue.

So the EML is on, but it won't fire? Sounds like immobiliser cutting it now if the EML is on and it just won't start and it seems otherwise fine - you need to get this on proper diagnostics (i.e. ...

That won't kill the ECU, it merely prevents power going to the lift pump, so if the lift pump runs, it's not that. What's very odd is that you say that the lift pump is running, but the EML isn't on?!...

If the EML isn't on, that's a sure sign that power isn't getting to the ECU *OR* the ECU is sometimes failing it's checksums on boot, however that should leave a code logged regarding Internal Checksu...

Because of induced camber due to castor - go look at the angle of the strut of any car and I'll bet you any money it's not exactly vertical. Thus when you turn the wheel, the camber is affected.
