Plus gas (http://www.amazon.co.uk/English-Abrasives-802-10-Plusgas-Aerosol/dp/B0001P02RK) can work a treat, at least before the bolt is rounded off. Way better than wd40.

I'm thinking of changing insurer to Bell with a telematics box to save about £400 (at least until they get the box back :p). I'm guessing they would be able to tell where I've been and void the warran...

I'm going to start a placement in Bristol for 4 months soon, I'll still be renting a house in Plymouth and returning on the weekends. Do I need to tell the insurance company?

Have you turned the steering wheel at all? If the steering lock engages you have to turn the wheel a bit for the key to turn all the way. It should still come out easily mind.

I'm 25, I got insurance within days of passing and the insurance confirmed I had the benefit due to age. It infuriated my 24 year old housemate who can't despite having 7 years experience :D
