you mean the small black box, with one wire on it,
which fastens to threaded bolt on the coil pack, ?
if so it is a Suppressor to stop the feedback on the radio,

It looks like a iffy stalk,
mine was doing the same, ifound a guide on the net and took it apart and sorted
it, abit of a fiddly job tho, |
