    Thread: 306 XS Value
Post: RE: 306 XS Value

I would think the XS is still desirable within 306s. 3dr GTi looks with a lighter, more revvy engine and cheaper to fuel & insure. What's not to like!? However, I'm not sure they're particularly ...

I think most garages use universal stretch boots nowadays. Can be cut to fit any size plus it saves dismantling the CV joint and getting covered in CV grease.

There were 2 turbos fitted to the HDi90 in the 306, so it could be either a Garrett GT15 or a KKK K03. You should be able to find refurbished units online, just not ECP/GSF type places.

Lowering with torsion bars is simple in theory... But everything will be seized solid and the bearings will be knackered now. I wouldn't want to be tackling it on a 20 year old 306 myself.

Laser alloys? I reckon you can hammer a small deep socket on the centre but not sure it'll grip enough. Irwin bolt extractors weight be worth a try.

Pull type clutch cables should all be the same. In my experience it was usually the clutch itself or the fork bearings that made a clutch heavy though. Changing the cable alone rarely worked.
