Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

I'm running my amp cable underneath the car next week is a piece of garden hose suitable as protection for the power cable ???

RE: Amp cable - samass - 15-01-2013

bodgetacular, but would probably work.

fyi, cable armour is like a fiver from screwfix for more than enough

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

RE: Amp cable - samass - 15-01-2013

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

RE: Amp cable - samass - 15-01-2013

yep that'll do the trick mate

RE: Amp cable - C.A.R. - 15-01-2013

Hang on.

It takes around 45 minutes to safely run the cable through the car interior to the boot. Why are you running cable underneath the car?

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

Cool cheers mate

RE: Amp cable - samass - 15-01-2013

still easy enough to run it under the car Chris, and if it's in armour and help up so it's not gunna get snagged on anything, I don't see any issue?

Because I can't see anyway to get the cable through the bulk head
I have air con on mine if that makes a difference

Use the same grommit the aircon uses then for the condenser

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

Where's that ?

RE: Amp cable - HDIkyle - 15-01-2013

Tbh it'll be fine without aslong as its not going to chaff on anything. I am running my battery cable under the car just tie it up to the brakelines ot the way

RE: Amp cable - Niall - 15-01-2013

Or just run it under the car. Just as safe and easier.

RE: Amp cable - Eeyore - 15-01-2013

I just drilled through the car on the left of the air con grommet on my past 2 cars. On the estate ive gone through the grommet on the top rght of hte master cylinder!

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 15-01-2013

I'll have a look at it in the morning if the weather is dry

Is there anywhere that's guaranteed to get it into the car fairly easily

RE: Amp cable - samass - 15-01-2013

tbh mate, easiest way is thru a grommet in the boot floor, save f*cking about in the engine bay with limited space etc

Amp cable - Sambarker - 16-01-2013

Just don't do what my mate did and have it wrapped round the exhaust

RE: Amp cable - Willo - 17-01-2013

Round the exhaust that's not a clever idea

When I swap the headunit I don't need to swap any cables over do I on my old vw golf I had to swap the red and yellow wires over so that it would remember the stations and positions on cd etc

what a massive fail! lol

RE: Amp cable - cully - 17-01-2013

my amp cable runs under the car, i sleaved the cable in plastic air line then cable tied it to the brake lines
just be carefull going under the bulkhead near the chasis leg, the antiroll bar is a moving part and may rub through the cable
