Turbo help - GP123 - 02-01-2013

Can anyone help me here?

In the picture below where i have circled in Red, is this where i put a manual boost controller?

And also the wastegate actuator is not connected, does the wee flap in the inside of where the exhaust elbow goes over have to be shut or open to work with the boost controller?

Again all help appreciated, thanks!

Lol, no picture.

The MBC goes between the boost feed line and the actuator. So the pipe that comes off the actuator - cut it, put MBC in the middle.

Actuator isn't connected? Do you mean the arm isn't connected to the wastegate, or the boost feed isn't connected to the actuator?

RE: Turbo help - Piggy - 02-01-2013

what turbo is that?
think you will need to get a boost feed...closer to inlet manifold the better.

its missing its actuator too...if you have it, it needs mounting on the turbo, to control the waste gate on the hot side.

mbc between boost feed and actuator

RE: Turbo help - GP123 - 02-01-2013

sorry mate, fixed it there lol. There is no actuator on. From the pciture above the hose is blocked off at the end. So will i put the MBC in the middle of that hose? And then either close or open fully the wee flap that would be joined onto the end of the arm inside?

RE: Turbo help - Piggy - 02-01-2013

ah I can see the pipe now. been blocked for some reason.

usually that extends to the actuator.

so you put the MBC between that pipe circled and the actuator.

do you have the actuator?

RE: Turbo help - GP123 - 02-01-2013

I have one here, but i cant get it to go on, dont think its the right one for it. But can you see what im saying here mate, if it "was on" would it need to have the wee flap on the inside open or shut? Could i not still do the same effect without putting it on? because is the MBC not controlling what boost im getting then with a turn of the knob?

Sorry if this isnt really making sense, but gotta learn sometime. lol.

**edit..

That pipe needs to be extended and connected to an actuator..through a MBC if you wish. The actuator needs to hold that wee flap (wastegate) closed until X boost pressure, then open.

If you don't use an actuator then you'll need to weld the wastegate closed and you'll have no control over boost. The MBC just controls when the wastegate opens.

Is the other turbo dead then :-S
