K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 31-12-2012 has anyone had any experience with the KKK K04 or K16 turbos?? It seems Garrett or nothing for xud's but the maps look good...especially the K16. The K16 is most famous, it seems, for being fitted to the Focus RS. but is used in few mercs too thoughts? RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ricky - 31-12-2012 strictly_derv runs a K04 RE: K04/K16 turbo - strictly_perv - 31-12-2012 I'm running a k04 ATM RE: K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 31-12-2012 and....? RE: K04/K16 turbo - strictly_perv - 31-12-2012 It's pretty good builds boost at 2k, full boost at 2900rpm RE: K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 31-12-2012 hmmmm.... got any idea of power figures? no one looked into the k16 then? RE: K04/K16 turbo - 4WayDiablo - 31-12-2012 He did roll 168bhp iirc at FCS with clutch slip? RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ruan - 01-01-2013 There's another turbo that's fitted to an older version of a car mentioned in this thread that's usually discarded by most, but would make an AWESOME turbo for an XUD9 if they want to stick with a conventional WG turbo... RE: K04/K16 turbo - cwspellowe - 01-01-2013 Well.. Merc C classes around 2002 have nice turbo's iirc RE: K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 01-01-2013 (01-01-2013, 11:18 AM)Ruan Wrote: There's another turbo that's fitted to an older version of a car mentioned in this thread that's usually discarded by most, but would make an AWESOME turbo for an XUD9 if they want to stick with a conventional WG turbo... really?! the focus rs I am on about is the mk1...so cant be that?! RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ruan - 01-01-2013 There wasn't a K16 fitted to a Mk1... ![]() RE: K04/K16 turbo - Pompey306mark - 01-01-2013 The focus rs comes with a gt2560rs, though having spoken to a few rs owners they have said its a gt2860rs. But I remember Ruan saying in another thread that garrett changed the names of the gt series. I have been on the hunt for one, at a good price. RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ruan - 01-01-2013 TECHNICALLY yes, in old speak the turbo that's on the Focus Mk1 RS is a GT28R... BUT - in new language, it's a GT2560R NOT a GT2560RS... RE: K04/K16 turbo - Pompey306mark - 01-01-2013 Ok I read somewhere is was an RS. RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ruan - 01-01-2013 It's an R... RS would mean it has a bigger turbine wheel, which it doesn't... That's actually why it's more suited to the XUD9... Notice the criteria for a GOOD turbo for an XUD9... Off a SMALL petrol engine producing GOOD horsepower... Think about the reasoning for this ![]() RE: K04/K16 turbo - cwspellowe - 01-01-2013 (01-01-2013, 11:41 AM)Ruan Wrote: It's an R... Because racecar? RE: K04/K16 turbo - Pompey306mark - 01-01-2013 I am sure it is an R I am not fighting you on it. Found two one for £350 and one for £250. RE: K04/K16 turbo - Ruan - 01-01-2013 Precisely. RE: K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 01-01-2013 dang....someone has busted my plan already.... I actually have a focus rs gt2560r lined up for the 2.1... after hours of swimming through maps, I seemed to keep coming back to it. and you are right chap, its the R not RS...that was a later turbo RE: K04/K16 turbo - Pompey306mark - 01-01-2013 Seeing as I already run a t25 off a Nissan 300zx, I thought the gt25 was the next logical step. Found a few on some nissans but the focus one looked the best option. RE: K04/K16 turbo - Piggy - 01-01-2013 I have found a couple of focus rs with the k16 though....not sure why RE: K04/K16 turbo - strictly_perv - 01-01-2013 My new turbo is a member of the GT25 family. Hopefully it should blow pretty well. |
