Tapping inlet elbow - Eeyore - 28-12-2012 Hello! I got a cheap die and tapping set off ebay. I now have two thingies to put in the manifold for the boost pipe but both are too big for my tapping set. Any ideas? B&Q didnt have any tappers at all! Also what are peoples opinions on drilling the elbow on the car if i do it carefully with a sharp drill bit? and how hard is it to remove? Boost gauge is sorted now. Just litterally need to connect it to the manifold! Thanks Sam RE: Tapping inlet elbow - Poodle - 28-12-2012 Buy a "thingy" the right size for the taps? I think it's an unnecessary risk doing the elbow in place, when removing it to drill would only take an extra 10 minutes. Wouldn't do it whilst still fitted to the car. Could cause engine damage if you do. RE: Tapping inlet elbow - cwspellowe - 28-12-2012 +1 you'd be surprised how much swarf comes off when drilling and tapping, remove it and save yourself the heartache. Is it a 1/8NPT thread by any chance?
