Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

What's the best turbo to hybrid? Has anyone done a hybrid td04 before?

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

I am sure Ruan will come in here....

but you may aswel have taken the countrys worth of tinned beans and opened them all....

you have effectively asked a question without entering needed information for what is needed....

RE: Hybrid turbos - Tom - 27-12-2012

Just get a VNT.

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

theres great advantages to hybrids...but a hybrid is built to suit an engine build....

so the question is more: why do you want a hybrid turbo?!

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Well I'm running a td04 ATM but wanting something that will spall sooner but keep the power/psi as the td04

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

then you want a VNT

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Vnt???

RE: Hybrid turbos - Tom - 27-12-2012

RE: Hybrid turbos - Tom - 27-12-2012

Expensive to buy, annoying to set up.

Pretty much spool from tickover and will power through to i dont know 5000rpm at a guess...

Im not exactly knowledgable just spouting off crap i've read on here.

RE: Hybrid turbos - Ricky - 27-12-2012

Don't need vnt unless your willing to work out control etc. Go for a Garrett GT series turbo like 2056 or 52 imo.

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Where?

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

those can be found in saab turbos...I nearly got one...but went td04 as those quoted above arent that strong compared to the td04

Because they dont need to go that high, they'd be savage at 26psi.

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

what pump/setup have you got?!? going over 30psi will kill a vnt...as demo'd on here by another 306 dood today

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Whats the power difference between the td04 that runs over 30+psi compared to the 2056 at 26psi?

Running a gov modded Bosch with grounded lda pin but I should be getting a 10mm soon.

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

again...huge question.

all depend on setup. they work differently so need different setups

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Did you see my set up answer?

RE: Hybrid turbos - Tom - 27-12-2012

Piggy VNT's are completely different monsters... Ruans made 175hp? i think and that was 22psi... It a whole nother ball game.

I know...thats why I said they need to be setup differently!?!?!?

I can now...slow refresh

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 27-12-2012

Ok Smile

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 27-12-2012

worth working out what your target is....the goal you want to score...or the fence you want to jump....

as all the above three need different approaches...as would td04/early vnt/modern vnt

RE: Hybrid turbos - David - 28-12-2012

Well I'm running a td04 at 30 psi atm but want some that kicks in earlier but can hold the power

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 28-12-2012

Im no expert matey...try Ruan.

I would say VNT is what would give you want you want...more expensive and complicated though.

however I wouldnt doubt a well setup 11mm pump/td04 would see good low down gains aswel as top end

See I've been told the 10mm would be perfect compared to the 11mm set up. Plus I do a lot of milage.

RE: Hybrid turbos - Piggy - 28-12-2012

wvo for the high mileage win!!!!

Garrett GT2052 or 56. spool super quick and hold boost til 5k. With a decent exhaust elbow to.
