TD04 problems - David - 05-12-2012

Fitted the td04 at the weekend with dan! And it went really well so happy days there.

It's been boosting fine all week at over 30psi no problems but today while traveling home the turbo started loosing psi big time, it's boosts to 5 psi easy but struggles to get over 10 psi. I have a small hole on the side of the tmic where the d seal is but it shouldn't lose all that psi from there.

Has anyone for any ideas?

Er, boost leak?

You're welcome

RE: TD04 problems - David - 05-12-2012

Lol my small brain has just about worked out that I have a boost leak but the problem is trying to locate it. All the boost leaks iv has in the past is sudden with a massive loss of boost all at once.

RE: TD04 problems - Piggy - 05-12-2012

Start with the d seal...go from there

RE: TD04 problems - CJ_Derv - 06-12-2012

If its got a leak it aint gona build much boost

I would think the d seal would lose over 30 psi though.........

I think I'll try and sort that out then Smile

RE: TD04 problems - ginge191 - 06-12-2012

But think; if you know about a "small hole" somwhere in the intake, 30psi on your TD04 and that small hole doesn't stay small for long. Smile
Good luck with it all

RE: TD04 problems - David - 06-12-2012

Anyone in Essex got a spare tmic?

RE: TD04 problems - David - 06-12-2012

well that's wrong . .very wrong lol . ..hmmmmmmm fcuk knows then.

RE: TD04 problems - Tom - 06-12-2012

It wouldnt because theres no boost to push the lda down to give more fuel :p

narr it'd smoke like fcuk if there was a boost leak even without lda fuel . . Smile

RE: TD04 problems - Piggy - 06-12-2012

a d seal is pennys...get that sorted then go to next issue

RE: TD04 problems - David - 06-12-2012

I thought it was weird as it always smokes very badly when it has a boost leak. The d seal is only 2 days old!!

RE: TD04 problems - cwspellowe - 06-12-2012

Well when you've fixed the leak you blates need more fuel then

RE: TD04 problems - David - 06-12-2012

The fuel seems fine when it's all working fine but might turn it up a little more for fun Smile

RE: TD04 problems - Dave - 06-12-2012

A small leak can be exponential to performance, thats how turbo's work Wink If you loose 5psi of IMP, you'll loose more than 5+ psi of EMP, causing a huuuuge knock on effect with your performance, it will just tail off. This is where VNT's excel with their manifold pressure management too.

yeah yeah yeah . . . . still doesn't explain why he's not smoking thoough . .Wink

RE: TD04 problems - David - 07-12-2012

It should be smoking like fcuk ATM but it ain't. I really wanna know why it ain't.

TD04 problems - Jake - 07-12-2012

What's the throttle arm like, getting full use of the gov'?

RE: TD04 problems - David - 07-12-2012

Hang looked at it yet but it don't like reving over about 3500k

RE: TD04 problems - zx_volcane - 07-12-2012

fuel filter?

RE: TD04 problems - David - 07-12-2012

Was replace about 2 months ago

RE: TD04 problems - Dicky - 07-12-2012

Start it up and spray wd-40 all over the boost pipes, Mine did exactly this (minus the TD04) found out I had a hole underneath the intercooler pipe

RE: TD04 problems - Tom - 07-12-2012

Doesnt have to be wd40 anything flammable will do :p If the revs go up the hole is where your spraying lol

Next time your about get me or dan to check your throttle arm isn't set a notch out, should still rev higher than that even with a boost leak.

RE: TD04 problems - David - 07-12-2012

Well I've just gone and got a new fuel filter to see if that helps.........
