RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - procta - 09-04-2015 piggy just space frame the car end of RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Dum-Dum - 09-04-2015 The 2.1TD is an absolute boat anchor of an engine compared to the GTi6 or 8v HDi RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Jonny81191 - 09-04-2015 (09-04-2015, 08:41 AM)darrenjlobb Wrote: Cool story bro. Awesome work piglet, you've kept it neat too, unlike a lot of track slags. This looks pretty much stock (from the outside at least) Looking forward to seeing it out on track! RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Piggy - 09-04-2015 The 2.1 is no heavier than the gti6 lump if not a little lighter and the hdi box is lighter than the gti6 box (09-04-2015, 09:36 PM)Jonny81191 Wrote:(09-04-2015, 08:41 AM)darrenjlobb Wrote: Cool story bro. Thanks fella. Yeah will be trying to keep it looking standard ish exterior and do have some updates to come to tidy the interior RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Piggy - 11-04-2015 Ruddybrakes. All was going well... [attachment=22629] Until... [attachment=22630] So anton has some calipers for me which is good. And i lowered the beam and fitted the 24mm arb instead. Beam guna be stripped and rebuilt next winter. Some dampness on the old arb RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - bashbarnard - 11-04-2015 Ah well at least its the cheapest calliper on the car. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Toms306 - 11-04-2015 Would've thought you'd have tools for removing snapped nipples? Or is it just not worth the hassle for how cheap a new one is? RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - bashbarnard - 11-04-2015 I do. But once they are in bad they are stuck. Also have a tool to put new larger ones in as well. Cheaper for new calliper though cause of labour. Assuming you were talking to me. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Piggy - 11-04-2015 I have started to drill the bugga out as it aint budging with all the tools I have. Annoying as its been undone a few times a year. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Toms306 - 11-04-2015 I was meaning Piggy really, probably should've made that clearer... Seems odd if its been undone recently though, the ones I've snapped in the past probably hadn't been touched in 10 years lol. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - bashbarnard - 11-04-2015 Fail.... I am hopefully picking up a set monday night for £20 RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Poodle - 12-04-2015 You've seen what people pay for nimrods right? Amd these are actually rare and worth having lol. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - bashbarnard - 12-04-2015 (12-04-2015, 06:19 AM)Poodle Wrote: You've seen what people pay for nimrods right? Amd these are actually rare and worth having lol. Nope. I paid £100 for mine with four pretty much new tyres from Sam. I have to agree with piggy though dude. That is far to much for what essentially look like steel wheels. RE: 2.1GTd....THE WEIGH IN! - Piggy - 13-04-2015 Yeah I'm not with the super elite pricing on basic citroen rims. Anyhow... New rear calipers getting the treatment... [attachment=22648] RE: 2.1GTd....time to finish stuff... - Piggy - 13-04-2015 They are coming on nicely...first coat on them. In other news, have fitted the fan resistor and wired up the ph1 heater controls and light. Yay I have a heater/windscreeb demister Also lowered the beam another 55mm I'm desperate to get out in it, weather been so good. Just need to finish these brakes and tidy the wiring and I'm going for a long drive this weekend! RE: 2.1GTd....time to finish stuff... - zx_volcane - 13-04-2015 why are the rear brakes off? those nipples don't like being drilled out RE: 2.1GTd....time to finish stuff... - 1616six - 13-04-2015 Just out of interest in your videos you always say 'we' and 'we've' but I've only ever seen you working alone and you've never mentioned anyone else. Is it just you incorrectly using the majestic pronoun or is there someone we don't see helping? Also, the calipers I had were long in the tooth...I scraped through my yellow paint...then green, then red, then blue, the red, then black. Any ideas to get this ruddy nipple out?? The nipple is hard as nails to drill RE: 2.1GTd....time to finish stuff... - Dum-Dum - 14-04-2015 (13-04-2015, 08:49 PM)Piggy Wrote: I can't do anything without my awesome wifeI can concur Piggy's wife is awesome. What drill are you using? Can't you get something in it and reverse the drill to unwind it?
