RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Dum-Dum - 30-09-2013 Gotta say I dont think the 1749 is gonna be quite big enough for this engine and 11mm fueling. Might be big enough if combined with something bigger ... RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Poodle - 30-09-2013 Lol that's what I wasn't saying. Think seeing the 2559 for sale has given him ideas. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - zx_volcane - 30-09-2013 (30-09-2013, 11:09 AM)Poodle Wrote: Lol that's what I wasn't saying. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Poodle - 30-09-2013 The 2559v he was looking at would have been useable I think, laggy as all fook for a vnt, but I think it'd work. Might be a bit oversized on something thats meant to be a drivable gt though lol. Compound ftmfw if we're honest though hhaha! RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Dum-Dum - 30-09-2013 It will, its VNT and hes got more capacity than most people here. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 30-09-2013 I love this.... RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 30-09-2013 yes!!! GT1749s in the bag!! RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - strictly_perv - 30-09-2013 17 would be too laggy, you want a GT1544 really.. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Poodle - 30-09-2013 Gas flow is what you need to worry about, not cylinder capacity. Max is right too, if thats the hp side of a compound arrangement I think it might be a bit big, especially on the exhaust side... RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 30-09-2013 whilst you are all arguing over what I am going to do with my collection of turbos.... Swapped old buggered ph1 rad for a nice nissens bargain! thanks SKoob! with all the mods and 2.1.....its a SERIOUSLY tight fit. I had -mm to spare! the nissens rad is a bit wider too....so clearances are rather close... got about 3/4mm between rad and alternator! but thankfully polybushed lower engine mount doesnt let things move too much! also sorted my aux tensioner which was kok eyed. so had a quick look at why my oil catch tank was not catching oil and rather spraying it over my gbox and turbo. opened it up to find this: not best pleased so cut some thin metal out, drilled some holes in it, cut to fit the tank, and wacked some wire wool in the one side. hoping that will sort things out. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 30-09-2013 (30-09-2013, 03:54 PM)strictly_perv Wrote: 17 would be too laggy, you want a GT1544 really.. The 44 is a bit small IMO. A/R of .33 is great....but the gt1749s is still only .46 with the 2056 at .53 Amazingly the gt1549 is .48 which shows the big difference between the 1544 and 1549! although the trim seems better on the 1544......hmmmm RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Poodle - 01-10-2013 Lol, so there wasn't any stuffing in it after all, funny that... :p I think you'll be surprised at just how much difference the ar makes, especially when you consider the differences in turbines. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 01-10-2013 hmmm. I think my ninja plans are seeping out. Although I have kept them secret for nearly 12months now...so not too bad. Anyway, found a RR literally 10min from me...must have driven past it so many time...so hope to get it on the rollers asap! RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 02-10-2013 currently stranded in gloucester due to aux belt being still on M5!!!! doh! I made it to bristol and back to gloucester but battery just hasnt enough umph for the headlights anymore ah well...made it to maccyDs RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - devils_fuel - 02-10-2013 That's a shitter, any reason? RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 02-10-2013 er yeah. shoulda fixed it really. ac pump is slightly outa line...been just wearing the edge a little...didnt think much of it. I do now!! ah well. fries and a smoothie RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - devils_fuel - 02-10-2013 Oh dear..on the upside Macdonalds RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Dum-Dum - 02-10-2013 Also at least you know what belt you need now RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - ozonehostile - 03-10-2013 aircon will always be more hassle than its worth on a 306 RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - 306Dan - 03-10-2013 Aircon what is this mystical thing you speek of? Joking aside it probably doesn't work anyway so I'd sack it off for weight saving RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 03-10-2013 Have you read any of this thread dan?! lol! the pump isnt connected and the condensor leaks. but all parts will be sorted during winter ready for spring operation. RE: GT 2.1 - OEM+ - Final touches begin.... - Piggy - 03-10-2013 enough said. Anyone interested in buying a GT 2.1? RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - Just Sean - 03-10-2013 Don't give up mate! As said, its just teething problems! RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - Piggy - 03-10-2013 TEETHING problems!? Do you not recall the catastrophic HG failure on day one of running....that was with all the other oil line fails! Im getting it towed back tonight. Then ordering couple bits. Keep off road for a week to sort these two issues out. Aux belt. Oil lines. Sort them for good! In meantime...start getting parts flocked! RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - cwspellowe - 03-10-2013 (03-10-2013, 01:43 PM)Piggy Wrote: TEETHING problems!? Do you not recall the catastrophic HG failure on day one of running....that was with all the other oil line fails! Yeah but the HG can be put down to complacency mate. Lesson learned but a corner was cut and you paid the price. Least it only cost you a skim and gasket set, my complacency cost me about £600 in turbos. When it's user error though you can only really take it on the chin and learn from it, no matter how daft it seems. Hence.. teething trouble. The oil lines though.. not sure why they pop. Did you PTFE the fittings and torque them properly? Seem to remember talk from Mocal about not overtightening them, and then people tighten them up FT anyway because they work loose. RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - vlj - 03-10-2013 Might want to clean that oil off, can't be too good for the paint. In all seriousness, that's gutting to see! RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - Piggy - 03-10-2013 meh...oil be left for winter...stop that bonnet rusting couldnt give a rats arse or face right now. Re: GT 2.1 - dead. - CJ_Derv - 03-10-2013 Exactly the reason I gave up with these 306's Im actually gutted for you will all the graft thats gone into it hope that engine blocks all polished up when all fixed again and complete or we be fallin out! RE: GT 2.1 - dead. - Piggy - 03-10-2013 should wash off ok. just hope loss of oil pressure didnt do any damage |
