FAO mtb nuts! - Niall - 25-11-2012

That road bike thread has reminded me that i need new forks! My bike is kinda in hibernation at the moment as im a lazy bastard at the moment but before i dust it off, i need some new forks.
at the moment ive got some 2003 marzocchi bomber z1 160mm. The frame ive got is designed to take a 130-150mm fork so having 160 isnt helping things. These forks were also notorious for tucking under and it really does make you feel very unstable not to mention the knock that sounds like matts bottom end after he drove through a puddle!

so requirements:
no more than £300 all in
1 1/8th steerer
130-150mm travel - preferably 130
20mm bolt through - preferably QR
IS mount disc
not manitou!

If a decent fork came up at a decent price with a 15mm bolt through, i would get it. ive got a Hope pro2 front hub so rebuild kit is very cheap to change it to QR or 15mm
its been so long since ive been into riding, i have lost touch with whats what so need your help deciding!

i have been looking at foxs...mainly vanillas though!
extend them to 130mm, 20mm bolt through and youve got a deal!

I was looking to lower them to 60mm when I got them, I was amazed how simple it is to adjust the height! Dont think 20mm conversion is quite so easy though haha

yeah i was going to get the 130 conversion kit for mine and some new bushes to stop the knock and tuck under but the forks were discontinued 9 years ago so getting parts is fun!
