question about lucas pump - bayley - 26-10-2012 over the last few weeks my car has started revving up and down on its own when i first start it and then when i pull of it pulls away on its own on and off.after a minute or so it is fine and when i turn the engine off the pump hisses ![]() Re: question about lucas pump - Dan! - 26-10-2012 Air getting into the pump. If you put a bit of clear pipe from the top of the filter housing to the pump you will probably see air bubbles in it while the engine is running. Basically means you have a leak somewhere. Squeeze the hand fuel primer until it goes hard then keep trying to squeeze it and you should hear hissing, look all around the fuel line, fuel filter, pump etc and find out where its leaking.
