Thanks that sounds about right any cheap mods that can be done

RE: 1999 1.8 meridian - Niall - 16-09-2012

Not really. There a fantastic engine but are let down big time by the engine management so dont take well to most mods. Try increasing breathing with a exhaust and maybe filter and id leave it at that unless you want to start spending decent amounts of money

no i say it all the time. I could make a better ecu out of lego than siemens have for the 1.8!

or with a raspberry pi and lego ninja

RE: 1999 1.8 meridian - puglove - 18-09-2012

nop you said lego, so lego only lol

On a serious not though, if you used gti bodie cam etc surly you could map a gti ECU to run a 1.8?

yeah you could. GTi ecu is substantially better! Problem with the sagems is they get spiked very easily and have no protection so if your lucky, they just stop working. If your not, they run like shit and destroy your engine!
but if your doing a serious build, a omex or similar has to be had really. much more flexibility and loads more people can map them

RE: 1999 1.8 meridian - puglove - 09-10-2012

Yeah i think thats what im going to go for when i "rework" the S/C kit. heard nothing but good things about omex
