Wheel Bearing Problem? - sebanelli - 23-07-2012

Hi all. First post from a new joiner. Just got my 306 HDi Meridian earlier this month and need some advice (I'm not very clever on the mechanical stuff so bear with me!). Got a bad vibration when hitting 70mph so had the front wheels balanced but this doesn't seem to have solved the problem This together with a slight drone from the rear axle/wheels) leads me to think that maybe the rear wheel bearings might be to blame? Any advice/suggestions welcomed. Also, it is usual for the turbo to whistle? It sounds like I'm taxying a jet going down my street!!Undecided

Whistling is fine.. if it sounds like a police car its f*cked Smile Droning is related to wheel bearings but its very hard to diagnose noises over the interweb.

Droning is classic for a wheel bearing to be on its way out. I should know. Mines going lol
Just to be sure the droning will follow road speed rather than anything else

As for the bad vibration it could be a slight buckle that can't be balanced out or could even be something like the driveshafts but wouldn't worry about it too much. Mine has a nice wobble at around 80 but if I Put my foot down it goes away lol
