RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - tachagti6 - 22-07-2012

There kent p81 I think...there the highest lifting cams you can get for the gti6 engine we have 2mm clearance!! Next mod will be massivly winning!!! Hello hindhead tunnel!!!!!!!!!!

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - puglove - 22-07-2012

dont you need pocketed piston heads to have kents highest lift cam?

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - tachagti6 - 22-07-2012

No the guy we bought them off said we didn't need them and gti6 forum sayd that too, pt81's are the highest you can go without having to do that, I worded it wrong. Highest you can go without having to change things :-)

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - puglove - 22-07-2012

O i see so your running the highest lift you can on OE heads.

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - tachagti6 - 23-07-2012

Yea that's the one :-)

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - Dum-Dum - 23-07-2012

This "next bit" better contain the words "throttle" & "bodies" or "super" & "Charger" otherwise I will be disappointed Tongue

Agree with Ginge - Superchargers are so 2009 - Turbocharging is where it's at...

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - Pompey306mark - 23-07-2012

Throttle bodies.

Superchargers are boring as shit, but its easy and will still make it more interesting than a standard 6............or a shitbox focus for example...............

IMO its wants a lairy turbo, but bodies just sound utter porn!

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - C.A.R. - 23-07-2012

Bodies and Turbo?

But then you loose the epic induction noise Tongue

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - Ben Jay - 23-07-2012

is that even possible? thought bodies went almost straight into the cylinder?

You can get custom intake plenums welded onto the end of throttle bodies. It improves throttle response, and I believe yes does make it sound more epic, but its VERY expensive for not a huge amount of real-world gain.

Stuff like BTCC cars use this sort of set-up i Believe (could be wrong though; I've done my best in the past to pause the tv when you get a glimpse of the engines, but not 100% sure!)

Yeah, they do, and......................

It won't make it sound more epic once you attach a turbo onto the end of the plenum though......bye bye induction noise!

Hmmmm... /disagreesface

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - Ben Jay - 23-07-2012

so is possible but no point in doing it then? lol

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - C.A.R. - 23-07-2012

Better throttle response Ben.

Look at the standard intake plenum on an RB26-equipped Skyline (basically any GTR between R32 and R34)

They have that setup as standard...

RE: GTI6 Ninja plans in full swing EEEKK!!! - mark_airey - 23-07-2012

Ed you can disagree all you like Tongue
just putting an intake on the turbo quietens it down no end so putting a plenum/turbo/intake/filter between the throttle bodies and atmosphere is clearly going to make it quieter Tongue

No point doing what?? fitting a turbo Undecided but then you would have like 400+ BHP of turbo WIN, why would you not want to do that!

Nah if your gonna have boost and bodies it needs to be a supercharger and bodies

Why though? Charger power delivery is all boring and linear, would be much more fun with a turbo and make more powers Big Grin

Why?

Same thing. But even less point in supecharger and bodies, as there isn't any lag with a supercharger anyway...
