What a difference & turbo question? - CJ_Derv - 17-06-2012

Hey all, got round to changing oil and filter and fuel filter today what a difference changing 2year old semi synthetic oil and filter to fully synthetic and new filter makes. Cant believe the difference now the sludge has been changed

I had a tinker with the lucas til bosch is goin on and turned max fuell to max, and adjusted compensator with anstronger spring from another pump but cant boost past 18/19 psi as when ive looked at the turbo and tried an allen key in the ex owner has bastard rounded it off :S so cant turn it up anymore and want to as has FMIC and smokes a but still on boost so enough fuel for some more boost....any ideas how to get more boost without plan B which is to take off and weld wastegate shut as cba lol

Cheers

Can't you cut a notch in the existing bolt so you can turn it with a screwdriver or similar?

Failing that what about one of those screw extractor sets???

Ahh didnt think of notching wil have a go, good shout Ruan, is it just a case of cutting the little pipe on these not had a kkk for years lol

Yeah, cut the pipe and whack a mbc on it

but fitting an mbc would you not need it to be fully closed in order to be able to adjust the boost?

No because the air won't pass to the waste gate until the set PSI is reached (on the MBC), therefore unless the actuator is set to more then the boost your trying to achieve it will be fine.

Mbc all the way, welding wastegate is like putting a fuel limiter on and we all love fuel, the k14 wg cant control boost over 18-19psi without an mbc either!
