Clutch query - WiNgNuTz - 13-06-2012

Im going to be replacing my clutch at some point in the near future, and i figured as im going to do it, i might as well upgrade it, to allow for future power mods.

I THOUGHT i'd seen somewhere that using an HDI clutch would effectively be an upgrade, but im beginning to wonder if i've got that backwards. :?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me, as searching has left me with a bit of a headache, and not really any further forward than i was. Alternatively, if anyone can recommend an uprated clutch to use with the xud 'box, i'd be gladly appreciative (if thats actually a word! lol)

Ta muchly! Big Grin

So the XUD clutch in the HDI is the upgrade? Dammit Sad

Re: Clutch query - Anton - 13-06-2012

An xud clutch (valeo) is fine for 200bhp, 280lbft. Around £90

Re: Clutch query - WiNgNuTz - 13-06-2012

Win. Ill stick with the standard clutch then! Big Grin

Re: Clutch query - 4WayDiablo - 14-06-2012

Might not hold 200 bhp. I know they will start to slip after a larger turbo
Mine ever so slightly now and again will slip but its very rare

Re: Clutch query - Jtrigga - 14-06-2012

No need for uprated clutch just stick to a standard valeo. You can change the XUD gearbox to a hdi for different gear ratios.

Re: Clutch query - WiNgNuTz - 14-06-2012

I'm gonna skip the hdi 'box, as I don't do enough motorway miles to warrant the lower rpm at 70mph, and would rather not suffer with more lag between 2nd and 3rd.

I've got a fair way to go before I'm pushing the 200bhp Mark though, aiming for 140-160ish at the moment, but it'll be slow progress due to funding issues! ;-)

EDIT: What sort of power are you making 4way, any idea?
