Bird Crap Mark! :( - Toms306 - 02-06-2012

Soooo....

My cars been parked under a tree while off the road, and there was bird shit all over it, some a month old now, which I attempted to wash off today. Three washes later it was still visible, two polishes with SRP haven't don't anything at all, so I've waxed it now and still very visible. :problem:

Is there any way to get rid of these dull marks....cos they're not exactly small, bloody osteriches shit I think tbh.

Cheers,
Tom

compound polish srp is use less all it does it fill

Re: Bird Crap Mark! :( - Eeyore - 02-06-2012

heat gun it? you could cut out that section of roof and get another piece welded in. Then get it resprayed and should be good as new Smile

Also called birdlime in the industry

A machine polish should make it better but it does have a habit if leaving marks

Re: Bird Crap Mark! :( - Toms306 - 02-06-2012

Yeah tbh I don't see any difference after SRP that I wouldn't get with just wax lol.

What polish would you use then?

It's not the roof Sam, its the wing bonnet and door....f*cking birds.

I have two of these also, on the roof near the ariel on the Focus. Didn't notice them when I first bought it! But now I've cleaned it a few times it's obvious and it's annoying.

Gonna have a go at giving it a good polish after I clay the car in a few weeks.

Nitromors.

Clay bar could do it/some form of cutting compound should do it?

It is that bird shite is acidic. You need to take it down with compound, Meguiars ultimate compound, then polish and wax... Wink

Re: Bird Crap Mark! :( - MarkTD - 03-06-2012

That must be a big bird for it to do that, the dirty bastard!

According to autoglym that isn't the reason. :?

Apparently its cos the warm soft laquer moulds around the shit as it cools down (overnight for example) so its then 'rough' rather than smooth and shiny when you take the shit away.

I'm not sure what compuond even is lol, I'll have a look tomorow in town though. Smile

Re: Bird Crap Mark! :( - Midnightclub - 03-06-2012

It's the amonia in the bird shit because bird shit isn't just 'shit' it's bird piss also, that's what eats into the paint work, the extra heat just accelerates the process

Re: Bird Crap Mark! :( - Toms306 - 03-06-2012

Hmm.....anyone up for a mass pigeon cull?

Exactly this. A good layer of wax will help protect to an extent but doesn't make it immune!! AG do a pack of wipes you can bung in the glove box to wipe it off.

If you want to look a tit and go and buy a Matt black M3 or similar, you have to be so stupidly careful with the paint. Get bird shit on it for a few days an it literally ruins it.
Clean it and leave water marks on the surface and they will ruin the finish!

Mine had only been waxed a few days previous and in 24 hours its messed up to paint Sad
