RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 05-01-2016 Quick update on the car. Didnt get the chance to take photo while ive been at it. Recently fitted new cambelt, waterpump, oil, coolant etc. She has been off the road since end of november as I have a winter runaround still on the hunt for a bonnet amd tailgate RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Dum-Dum - 06-01-2016 Needs Moar Piktorz!!!! RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 11-02-2016 So as I am off for a couple days I decided to fiddle with the car. Shes been sat since November so I gave her a quick clean to get all the grime off then decide to give the engine bay a clean. Top of the list this god awful looking fuel rail After an hour attacking it with the dremel she was looking much better The left some deox gel on it for 6 hours cleaned it gave it 2 coats of 182 etch primer and due to having a fair amount of stonechip left............it had two coats of that as well I then gave the rad a good rub down with a wire brush as well as the coolant cap to get rid of all the road grime and salt When I was happy with this I then turned my attention to the bonnet latch, rub prime and ford graphite grey it went Next was the head. Gave it a good clean with some foam gunk and then a good ole wire brush to bring her back to life While cleaning the car I did see something I wasn't happy with RUST! So after speaking to carl it seems that the complete part is only held on by 6 spot welds and seam sealent so this will be removed and treated to a proper job in summer due to it having the same thing on the driver side for now tho it gets treated Sand, deox gel for 12hours clean rustbullet and.........Stonechip again haha RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Dum-Dum - 12-02-2016 Back on the road soon? RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 12-02-2016 Yeap end of march bub RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Magenta Sunset - 12-02-2016 how easy were the wings to pull off? RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 12-02-2016 You have to remove a rivet in the engine bay, then undo the bolt on the slam panel , one on the scuttlepanel, one on lower trim and two behind the door hinge RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - cully - 12-02-2016 wing fixings and sill trim to release points greens are rivets reds are bolts yellow is screws RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - 7057sam - 12-02-2016 Looking good mate, any plans for any track time this year ? RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 13-02-2016 Would love to this year sam. Bought the car for the idea of doing more and all i've done is prescolt hill going to try and do one around june as that is the only month im going to have spare time to get funds together RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Niall - 13-02-2016 Love the attention to detail with this mate RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 13-02-2016 So another day and more stuff to tackle. As my strut brace was looking a bit nasty i decided to freshen it up After taking so long to complete ive decided to leave it raw After this I then managed to source a tailgate from a good mate no more marked glass and no more rusty seal RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 16-02-2016 Had some free time today so decide to replace the tailgate off with the old one Replaced the boot seal took my boot lock off as well. Came across a bodge wire job going to the boot popper due to the original wire being burnt out So torn it out and fitted my new shiney tailgate Happy days RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Magenta Sunset - 16-02-2016 (12-02-2016, 09:41 PM)cully Wrote: wing fixings and sill trim to release points not a quick job then (planned to hammerite behind there) RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Paul_13 - 16-02-2016 (16-02-2016, 08:34 PM)hovis16 Wrote: Came across a bodge wire job going to the boot popper due to the original wire being burnt out Wonder who that was Looking good bud! I decided to try finish off the manifold today as I didnt manage to last week due to the cold. Woke up nice and early and finished putting her back together before it started to rain RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 31-08-2017 Rallye revival. I would post pictures but photobucket is being stupid. I've been enjoying the rallye recently and had lots of fun at pugfest. A lot off people enjoy the noise the old pug makes but after giving her a hard pounding i've just given her some love by fitting, New clutch Quiafe lsd New gearbox bushes Driveshaft seals and boots Steering rack boot Oil change New tyres. RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Eeyore - 31-08-2017 great stuff. Good to hear its going strong! RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 18-03-2018 Wooohooo After several attempts of trying to sort photobucket i've given up and got flickr. Recently done a fair bit to the https://flic.kr/p/25dFF11 https://flic.kr/p/FC8xmx https://flic.kr/p/FC8xkF https://flic.kr/p/FC8xjZ https://flic.kr/p/FC8xiM https://flic.kr/p/FC8xir https://flic.kr/p/FC8xgn https://flic.kr/p/H9Dqo7 Managed to get hold of a carbon bonnet which needs fair amount of elbow grease but has come out rather nice. https://flic.kr/p/H9CegE https://flic.kr/p/25dFF3A Also After looking for a while I managed to bag these off the 205 forum https://www.flickr.com/gp/140758138@N05/HA843g RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Eeyore - 18-03-2018 If youre getting rid of the black bonnet let me know! Purchased some disc shields Pads and new disc for the rear and carried out a trail fit of the front brakes https://flic.kr/p/251vbQC https://flic.kr/p/23Up3Zj https://flic.kr/p/GrvfdP RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - 7057sam - 13-06-2018 Looking sweet man. Got much clearance on the calipers?,you running standard size disc's ? RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 22-03-2019 Been enjoying the car as she was for several months and then some twat driving to close backended me lucky for me it was too bad. The c**t drove off after threatening me which I wasn't best pleased about. So seeing as the plates were damaged I replaced them Due to money troubles at the time the hispecs didn't last long so the standards went back on and while I was at it they had a fresh lick of paint. In my never ending urge to spend money I got a tad fed up of my wheels looking ratty and decided to get them refurbed..... I didn't managed to find these by chance in Bristol for not a bad price. The white wasn't my cup of tea so dropped the off to get redone this Monday to be greeted with these yesturday All I can say is they look amazing and they are 240kg lighter than my current wheels should make a nice difference to acceleration I think. That's all for now RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Mighty306 - 26-03-2019 Car looks great, despite suffering the injustices of idiot drivers. Where did you get your wheels done btw? Look well done. Am local n want to get a set sorted soon myself. (When I've got time I must go back n read thro your project thread ...a good read am sur n think it's one I've missed) RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 02-12-2019 Hey I got the wheels done at binfield wheels. They did do a really good job Not done much to the car recently just enjoying it as always. I have recently fitted some new springs, front calipers and a new grill RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - hovis16 - 21-03-2020 after a long time of once again just enjoying the Rallye it is time again to do some maintanence work. The first thing planned was to replace my old knackered suspension think we can agree was pretty much dead while at it I also carried out a full rebuild on my calliper as i was getting some wobbling under hard braking With the mechnical work done for now my attenetion turned to the sorry state my badge was in, so in typical hovis style when in comes to painting i got a TAD carried alway With that lot looking better than planned I then managed to get hold of a carbon grille to match my bonnet which looked ace but left the slam panel plus some other parts in the engine bay looking a little dull so the first thing was the cam covers then the slam panel. With that looking better my next thing to paint was the strut brace With that looking good I decided I didn't like the look of the grubby heatsheild so I purchased a stainless steel one, looks great but it can rattle abit so will need looking at again at a later date. Engine bay looking all tarty I gave her a well deserved wash :thumbsup :love Apart from the visual side of things I also recently fitted some new rear calipers and new selector bushes. thats all for now B) RE: hovis16s rallye (pic heavy) - Mighty306 - 22-03-2020 Cheers for the update. Car is looking great. I assume no idiots have driven on to you over the last year . You got a really nice finish on the parts you painted ....all done with a rattle can I presume?
