Help ...broken down - Mighty306 - 23-12-2017
Just broken down, luckily only a mile from home. Squealing noise from under bonnet followed by smoke. Tried to engage first gear but instead car seemed to go in to reverse. Turned off as soon as smoke appeared. Now won't start. Just heading up there with tools to investigate. Any help greatly appreciated as supposed to be heading off for Xmas!!!

Cambelt checked n that's all fine, as is aux belt. Tried restarting car once cold n it fired back up after bit of a splutter. Gears engaged fine n managed to drive it back down the hill. All sounded fine. Checked oil in gearbox n that's fine. When I took air box off tho there seems to be oil in the intake ☹.

Just let the car idle until the fan kicked in n all seems fine. No lights on dash. Thinking something to do with automatic clutch adjustment but not sure why that would prevent the car from staring when it was hot, unless heat temporarily affected the crank sensor? It's a total n utter f-ing mystery!!!!
