Gearbox ratio's - Hdi and proud of it - 11-11-2016

Does the 206 and 406 2.0 hdi gearbox fit a 306, and also if it does, are the gear ratios the same between them, I'm looking for a low mileage one and it would give me more choice if it's on other cars too, cheers all.

the 406 is an ml5 so will not fit. the 206 has a box with a higher final drive so will lower engine speeds a bit , if you get the right box. i think thay both need hydralic clutch convertions tho

406 hdi 90 is a be box

RE: Gearbox ratio's - Hdi and proud of it - 11-11-2016

What box is on my 306 hdi, I mean what's its number/name, 5 speed 2 litre, is there any markings on it so I can be certain that I get the right one at the breakers Smile

depends on the age, could have a BE3R or a BE4

RE: Gearbox ratio's - Hdi and proud of it - 11-11-2016

Is that marked on the casing somewhere?

It will tell you what gearbox your car has on servicebox.

Yes, but when I'm at the breakers, I need to be sure the metal lump thing on the floor is a 306 box and not from another model.

look it up on servicebox it'll tell you on there what code specifically your gearbox has.

something like 20bc56 or suchlike

The standard 206 has the same ratios, it's the 2.0hdi eco model that has a longer final drive. Don't confuse it with the 206 1.4hdi eco as that definitely won't bolt on. Unfortunately the 2.0 ecos seem to be rare as hens teeth.
