Custom springs... - Rippthrough - 07-10-2016

Haven't put this in for sale as I'm not sure if I'm doing them yet, but basically I've had a couple of Pug specialists ask me if I'll make torsion bars as the current sources are running soft materials and they're having issues with them twisting - and whether I can have springs done to match the front with various bars.

Now, I'm having custom springs wound for the front of my 406, but the numbers don't add up to do different springs with different torsion bars unless I can sell a lot more springs, so I was thinking of making some decent lowering springs for those just wanting springs to low/sharpen up the car.

To get the actual point - is there any interest in decent lowering springs any more (they'd come in about £100 for a pair), or is everyone just on cheap ebay chinese coilovers now?

might be interested in torsion bars phill, probably two sets.
not particularly impressed with the fit of the 23's and im sure the 21's have sagged.

different suppliers and finish though.

As above...more interested in TBs!

Yeah, that's the problem they told me about, most have just made them in En19/En24 and haven't hardened them so they sag after a while.
I'd be having them made in the same silly-spec stuff as I use for the off-roaders so even for rally cars you'd never have an issue, TB's would be sold through the other guys though since they came for them.

I think the majority of people would definately be interested in the torsion bars, i would be [emoji106]

Poss interested in both springs and TB's, as long as the TB's arent priced the same as the Pug Specialists which are silly money!

RE: Custom springs... - welshpug - 07-10-2016

depends what you call siply money, most are about £220 a set iirc, which is very cheap, pts ones were always more

RE: Custom springs... - Rippthrough - 07-10-2016

Yeah, mine won't be £220 a pair, it costs that just for the material and heat treat, never mind machining and splining!

RE: Custom springs... - welshpug - 07-10-2016

if they fit nice and dont sag then its a price you gotta pay!

RE: Custom springs... - Rippthrough - 07-10-2016

They won't sag even if you run more travel at the rear than standard cars, they're good for 70* of twist over 100k cycles on the 23's for example.
