wilwoods from a 106gti - puglove - 15-05-2012

Would a wilwood conversion from a 106 gti bolt straight onto a gti6??

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Eeyore - 15-05-2012

for anyone who has to look it up like me its a brake conversion kit Wink

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Grant - 15-05-2012

I would believe so, as a popular mod on the 106 is to fit either '6 brakes or DT brakes. This would lead me to assume the mountings are the same, so i would hazard a:

Yes Smile

Worth double checking though.

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Midnightclub - 15-05-2012

I would guess that the mountings would be the same, only issue you may have is spacing depending on what wheels you'll have on the car

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - ginge191 - 15-05-2012

I would also say they would fit.

I know the standard DT brakes as grant said are used as a 106 upgrade as my friend used my old set as spares..

I would assume the fitment would be fine. May be worth chucking Wilwoods an email?

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Grant - 15-05-2012

Your running clones right? If so then no... As midnight said, the spacing wouldn't work...

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Scott - 15-05-2012

You'd need some 13mm hubcentric spacers, but as said the fitment is the same Smile

To get them under clones?

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Scott - 15-05-2012

Yeah dude Smile

The 13mm spacers are around £80 a set I believe...Carl at CG Cars in Leicester used to sell them to go with the fitting kit of the wilwoods.

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Grant - 15-05-2012

Interesting. I needed about 50mm of spacing to squeeze those brembos under my clones, and if a stone went in there it woulda been disasterous.

This is a good route for me to start investigating then...

Nice one.

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - Scott - 15-05-2012

Tell a lie, Carl sold the 13mm spacers and you can actually fit them with 11mm spacers

106 gti will woods are actually smaller than brembos....and better. Bit limited to pads though.

Sorry should of stated that i knew about the spacing issue on clones, as the wilwood the lads run on the 6 forum have the same issue, so a yes on the mountings then?

Whooooo got myself some wilwood four pots for the winter conversion ninja

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - puglove - 15-05-2012

ok boys and girls whilst we are here will 106 coiles fit a 306? I no 205 ones do so worth a quick as me thinks

Re: wilwoods from a 106gti - swampy - 15-05-2012

Yes the106 willwoods will fit but 106 hoses are totally incorrect and standerd hoses won't fit willwoods as they have a taper fitting on the caliper end

Good news is I can supply the correct hoses with the correct fittings at a very good price £28.50 the pair deliverd
I supplied the ones used in the group buy on the gti6 forum several years ago

No they won't the 106 strut is one piece with the hub IIRC while the 205 ones are the same design as the 306 just altered slightly Smile

Edit:- 106 front strut
