Camber awards - Stef205 - 05-05-2016 So as some of you know i rebuild axles. Been doing them for a few years now, not only do i enjoy doing them (sad i know) but enjoy hearing the storys. Id thought id comprise a list of the worst axles ive done. Feel free to add your own pics etc. 1) Sian 2) Sian ![]() 3) fooby 4) connor 5) rowell These are my top 5 and these had to have other parts used to make them useable again. Just thought this would make for a good giggle Stef ![]() RE: Camber awards - Magenta Sunset - 05-05-2016 hope I can avoid joining that list ![]() RE: Camber awards - Anton - 05-05-2016 Toms ZX beam? Heard you said it was bad RE: Camber awards - Ben_w - 05-05-2016 Can't beat a bit of cambaaaaah! ![]() So cambered it had worn though the arch liners and was seized solid. RE: Camber awards - Poodle - 05-05-2016 I should have taken a pic of the beam on my latest estate, had totally collapsed and seized in a similar position to Ben's, couldn't get either of the mount bolts out. ![]() RE: Camber awards - insomaniac45 - 05-05-2016 think its time mine had a rebuild ![]() Starting to get some serious wear on the inside of my tyres ![]() RE: Camber awards - Eeyore - 05-05-2016 Only 5th... That's disappointing.... RE: Camber awards - 306Dan - 05-05-2016 And I thought my old beam was bad, Ben's takes it to the next level. I've a pic somewhere of a beam in a scrappy with 20mm spacers and it still wore the arch liner RE: Camber awards - Poodle - 06-05-2016 (05-05-2016, 09:52 PM)Eeyore Wrote: Only 5th... That's disappointing.... I reckon the one on your old estate would have got a special mention for free play, i could move the trailing arm about 2" with one hand! RE: Camber awards - Connor - 06-05-2016 I'm offended to be so low, are you thinking of the beam you actually refurbished for me? Or that one that was still on my car? RE: Camber awards - Sian - 06-05-2016 Jesus how did I make that twice ![]() RE: Camber awards - welshpug - 06-05-2016 my donor zx didn't have any more camber than it should have, but was seized enough for a shaft to come out of the arm! RE: Camber awards - toseland - 06-05-2016 Sian already had the award for most shagged rear end.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() have you pulled my axle apart yet to see how bad it was? I think mine takes the biscuit for worst handling, it was like I had rotating castors on the back of it. Jonny was managing to get the back end loose at 20mph throwing it around like a loon ![]() RE: Camber awards - Paul_13 - 06-05-2016 (05-05-2016, 08:39 PM)Ben_w Wrote: Can't beat a bit of cambaaaaah! Impressive! RE: Camber awards - C2K - 07-05-2016 Pah my hdi axle was way worse than that. Was rubbing paint off the arch at the slightest whiff of a corner. Threw it straight into a skip. Camber awards - bashbarnard - 08-05-2016 If we are having a compition here when i picked up my old blue esate a couple of years ago it had 10mm spacers on and was still scrapping the archs lol RE: Camber awards - Sian - 10-05-2016 (06-05-2016, 12:15 PM)toseland Wrote: Sian already had the award for most shagged rear end.. Mine was the bad it looked like it was supposed to be jdm style hahahahaha RE: Camber awards - Adam CD P1 - 10-05-2016 My car's been sat for 10 months facing downward on an incline. No camber as of yet but um yep I don't have great hopes for the beam I doubt it's had any maintenance ever at 51k miles |
