Headgasket refitting - Toms306 - 18-04-2016 Morning all, just want to check, do you guys use any liquid gasket/sealant on these when refitting? I wasn't going to but just want to make sure after someone mentioned it and has got me doubting haha. Cheers, Tom RE: Headgasket refitting - cully - 18-04-2016 thought head-gaskets go on dry? Headgasket refitting - bashbarnard - 18-04-2016 NEVER use anythig on headgaskets! EVER EVER EVER RE: Headgasket refitting - welshpug - 18-04-2016 yeah, typically the wrapper will have instructions also. the black coating on an MLS gasket is silicone, and you have the raised lines which bite into the mating surfaces. stop listening to the guy that said use sealant... RE: Headgasket refitting - Toms306 - 18-04-2016 Nice one, cheers for the confirmation. ![]() RE: Headgasket refitting - toseland - 29-04-2016 here you go toms, http://www.diy.com/departments/bq-bathroom-kitchen-sealant-w38mm-l335m/191708_BQ.prd?gclid=CM34l67ys8wCFawy0wod1bYAgg&ppc_type=shopping&ecamp=SEAPLA191708_BQ&ef_id=Vtb6gQAAAbIJ873J:20160429125447:s RE: Headgasket refitting - Alan_M - 30-04-2016 There is an issue with certian head gaskets and the TU though. A lot of TUs leak oil from the front left corner above the alternator and some have mentioned a way around this is to use sealant on that area only. Make sure there is red/black sealant on the gasket around this area or it'll just start pissing oil out. |
