More power - Matt - 13-04-2016 im bored of the Rallye already. I'm thinking throttle bodies, but I want to go the bike body route rather the slap a set of jenveys on there, as I won't be able to afford the kit. What sort of shopping list am I looking at? Any links to pages/threads I can read? Any help appreciated RE: More power - welshpug - 13-04-2016 They'll cost just as much to do properly unless youre a fabricator or have mates that are. RE: More power - Matt - 13-04-2016 Yeah looking at costs I think it might be better to buy something. Been reading yannis thread over on the '6 forum and he covers a lot! What throttle body setups are out there? RE: More power - Xsikid - 14-04-2016 Why not look at low boost SC set up? I wouldn't buy a kit, there's so many things you don't need and can make yourself with basic tools and save a bit of cash, and make more power. Quote:satchell inlet £180 That's copied from my recent post on the 6 forum. That got me around 200 bhp 160 lbft on newman PH2's, power wise you wont be so far off that but down on the torque curve with a standard engine, that was on stock manifold cat and pattern exhaust. sounds far better than a Rotrex, still does decent mpg, no cooling issues at all. And Sam I don't think they would work the bodies are too small, from what I've read RE: More power - welshpug - 14-04-2016 indeed, they'd be ok on a mild 1600, so maybe an XU5 crank in an Mi16 or even a gti6. RE: More power - ginge191 - 14-04-2016 R26..... RE: More power - cully - 14-04-2016 for a quick cheap power to weight gain fit a light flywheel I'm really surprised how that has livened up my 6 RE: More power - Matt - 14-04-2016 Shutup Steve I'm trying to convince myself not too Oh really? I've looked at lightened flys, it's just getting it fitted, never had the box off before RE: More power - ginge191 - 15-04-2016 (14-04-2016, 06:32 PM)Matt Wrote: Shutup Steve I'm trying to convince myself not too Wheels are being refurbished I'll even throw in a fresh MOT and service RE: More power - kjmaido90 - 22-04-2016 Why not look at high boost SC set up? RE: More power - miles - 22-04-2016 All very well with Boosting, Big issue are the gearbox's going pop and nothing can be done about it RE: More power - Piggy - 22-04-2016 Xud11 /Canofworms RE: More power - Xsikid - 22-04-2016 (22-04-2016, 10:41 PM)miles Wrote: All very well with Boosting, Big issue are the gearbox's going pop and nothing can be done about it Mines not gone pop yet but it's not that much for a spare box :-) RE: More power - Piggy - 22-04-2016 (22-04-2016, 10:41 PM)miles Wrote: All very well with Boosting, Big issue are the gearbox's going pop and nothing can be done about it Fit the xud/hdi box? Not that I have personally had experience with that combo...but others have done it I believe RE: More power - ginge191 - 23-04-2016 (22-04-2016, 10:52 PM)Piggy Wrote:(22-04-2016, 10:41 PM)miles Wrote: All very well with Boosting, Big issue are the gearbox's going pop and nothing can be done about it I think the ratios are far too short for a revvy petrol... Especially how Matt drives RE: More power - Piggy - 23-04-2016 Too short? Really?!? 2.5k rpm at 70mph for an hdi box in 5th... How is that too short? "hdi" box wont be any stronger if you mean BE. ML is an option but you're either stuck with standard ratios or very expensive stuff. ml was used in high spec 306 rally cars in france, one step down from sequential RE: More power - miles - 24-04-2016 As said the BE case and gear spec is not rated to suit boosted power, it's like how long is a piece of string as to how long it will last, there are options out there but not cheap, but you want power and as 99% of people have is overlooked the Box side of things, Gears have never been cheap RE: More power - toseland - 25-04-2016 Wait.. 160ft/lb of torque? [InsertDefaultDieselSuperiorityCommentHere] RE: More power - welshpug - 25-04-2016 torque is nothing without powerband. RE: More power - Stef205 - 26-04-2016 nothing like a boosted petrol engine with a powerband RE: More power - fatlapit - 24-05-2016 boost ftw, like miles said the box is the weakest link |
