Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 10-04-2016 Wondering how hard ball joints are to replace? And if they are too difficult how much I would be looking to spend to get it done and where to get the parts? I would presume Eurocarparts and a couple of hours work at a garage maybe? Thanks ![]() RE: Ball Joints? - welshpug - 10-04-2016 very very easy, an hour or so to do both sides at the most. RE: Ball Joints? - Toms306 - 10-04-2016 Depends if you've got genuine wishbones... If not they'll be riveted on! If they're OE bolted it's fairly easy though. ECP sell Lemforder which are pretty good but not exactly cheap. RE: Ball Joints? - adam b - 10-04-2016 After trying to buy a balljoint from ECP Cheltenham yesterday I'd use someone else. Said they had three on the phone but in practice they had none of any type. Wankers RE: Ball Joints? - Toms306 - 10-04-2016 Lol, it depends on the branch tbh, round here ECP is far better than GSF! RE: Ball Joints? - miles - 10-04-2016 TRW are the only ones to use, The rest are pretty crap RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 13-04-2016 I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere. Where would you get them from? I have seen reviews and all are good as well do that's good ![]() ![]() RE: Ball Joints? - Eeyore - 13-04-2016 Yeh bolt on ones are where its at. Mine are rivetted :/ Its easy to get meyle HD arms if you need to replace all the bushings and ball joints. I think there are only two sizes. RE: Ball Joints? - welshpug - 13-04-2016 grinder and a punch soon sorts out the rivets. My mechanic recommends them for most my car repairs now and so far I have been happy with the quality and managed a good price! Have you got any affiliation with that site? You post it every single time you post. You're likely to get some cheap crap that will undoubtedly fall apart within a few weeks. Got to ask yourself, is it worth it to risk your life? I've fitted Lemforder ball joints and all is fine 2 years on, with the benefit that the balljoints looked EXACTLY the same as the genuine Peugeot balljoints. Any major brand, i.e TRW etc will be fine too. The pattern balljoint on that site looks like the metal has been shaved off to save on cost. Is a few pennies of steel worth it!? RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 15-04-2016 I can't even find the lower ball joints on that website let alone a photo of them ![]() I think I will just go to Eurocarparts and get a set because I can't find those TRW ones anywhere tbf. RE: Ball Joints? - BiG K - 15-04-2016 Go to Misterauto.co.uk TRW / Lemforder are available. Edit: I am not affiliated with Misterauto lol RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 15-04-2016 Wow its amazing the price difference in such a simple part haha. Some are £7 some are £22 like the TRW. There are two listed for my car. One is 16mm thread and one is 18mm thread :/ http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/ball-joint/trw-jbj190_g2462_a161JBJ190.html http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/ball-joint/trw-jbj709_g2462_a161JBJ709.html Looks a good site that I have never heard of it tbf. RE: Ball Joints? - Toms306 - 15-04-2016 Should be 18mm on a ph3 HDi but you won't know without measuring it, there doesn't seem to be a foolsafe date or model specific to BJ sizes. ![]() RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 15-04-2016 Thats a ball ache ![]() One has chassis number RP7969 the other has number RP7970 Is that anywhere on the car? Should be on the VIN plate or something? RE: Ball Joints? - Toms306 - 15-04-2016 Yeah but that isn't a reliable way of checking unfortunately. Its the build code that's on the door shut, but is also towards the end of the VIN if you know what to look for. But as I say, all that'll show is that phase 3s 'should' have the 18mm BJ. RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 15-04-2016 Effort. Don't fancy spending £40 one the wrong bloody ones and having to post the damn things back -_- RE: Ball Joints? - Piggy - 16-04-2016 (13-04-2016, 02:13 PM)welshpug Wrote: grinder and a punch soon sorts out the rivets. Yeah but gotta drop the balljoint first... I hear Ruan is excellent at that #tagrequired RE: Ball Joints? - BiG K - 16-04-2016 Anything with power steering has 18mm balljoints iirc. As all the ph3 cars had power steering, all will use 18mm BJ's RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 16-04-2016 Ahhh there we go then ![]() RE: Ball Joints? - Ruan - 16-04-2016 (16-04-2016, 02:07 PM)BiG K Wrote: Anything with power steering has 18mm balljoints iirc. And yes, 18mm vs 16mm - only way is to look at your RPO/Build Code... I've seen HDis and GTi6s with 16mm and 18mm ball joints, so the ph3 vs ph2 thing doesn't work either from my experience. RE: Ball Joints? - JTaylor2005 - 16-04-2016 Ahhh bugger haha. What a pain. I will have to take the risk or buy both. RE: Ball Joints? - Poodle - 17-04-2016 I've yet to see a 16mm balljoint on an hdi. Before replacing these i'd have a good look at your rear wishbone bushes, because from your other thread i'd hazard a guess that they're the greater concern. RE: Ball Joints? - toseland - 28-04-2016 ^^ this.. ecp list ps and nonps variants of ball joints in both 16 and 18mm For reference the eco website doesn't list the sizes, the part number ending 35035 is 16mm, and 35065 is 18mm lemforder |
