Any side by side pics of 8 vs 16v? Genuinely interested to see if they are in fact beefier as I haven't ever seen any evidence (not a pop at you, genuine curiosity here) as they share the same part number as the 8v I believe.

RE: 16v and 8v conrods - Piggy - 16-03-2016

The xud/hdi ones share same part number too!

I will get a pic though for you Smile

RE: 16v and 8v conrods - Piggy - 18-03-2016

16v on left. 8v hdi on right.

Quite a bit thicker

And the 8v is quite a bit thicker than xud.

Interestingly the 2.0 16v hdi is thicker than the 2.2 16v rod

part numbers matching is likely due to supercession, if the newer rods fit the old engines and cost no more to make it makes sense to stop making the old ones, especially as there wouldn't be any call for them now, who would buy a rod from a dealer?! also no n-a diesels being made for a few years now.

RE: 16v and 8v conrods - HDi--Power - 18-03-2016

Hmmm they do seem a bit meatier alright, there was a new part number in the 138 Siemens engines halfway through their production, I wonder could those be thicker again?

Any 2.0 hdi these days has these rods in them...8v or 16v. Have done for years now!

RE: 16v and 8v conrods - Piggy - 18-03-2016

Interestingly... The 2.2 16v rods are about the same in "fat"ness as the 8v ones. Obv bit longer and fatter wrist pin

0603 90 are the normal rods like the above but the siemens 136 engine got rpo 0603 A6 bout midway through, worth a look at least, they may be beastly Big Grin
