Never knew that Tom, but now I do, knew bout the IBS though Smile
Will you be making FCS/Pugfest next year? Smile
I won't be coming to any major Pug meets unless they move them closer to my house. Tongue

RE: Meet at Toms306? - 7057sam - 07-01-2016

I'm about minute away so i'll say yeah lol

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 07-01-2016

I said closer to my house, not at it. Tongue

However going off the latest EA meets I'm sure the flats carpark would be adequate for the 3 people that would turn up. lol

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Eeyore - 07-01-2016

yeh im game. we will have to organise an EA meet this year.

RE: Meet at Toms306? - 7057sam - 07-01-2016

Do a fix sam's rallye meet

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Eeyore - 07-01-2016

its not far off mate. If people want to help with the engine swap and do the cambelt then theyre welcome!

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 07-01-2016

Yeah there's no way I'm risking a '6 cambelt change. Tongue

Yeah because there so difficult  Dodgy

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 07-01-2016

No, because they're so easy to f*ck up. Tongue

Yeah because they are so much different to any other 16v engine. Next you'll be telling me you must take it to a specialist because its impossible to do it your self.

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 07-01-2016

I've only done 2 lol, both 8 valves. Confused Specialist would at least offer warranty if anything went wrong. Wink

It's not just me anyway, a few of the local Pug guys wouldn't risk changing belts on other '6 engines when I asked...

RE: Meet at Toms306? - bashbarnard - 07-01-2016

Don't be a bunch of gays. I'll come over and supervise for you. I wont do it for you though, if not you wont learn anything. Always a good skill to have Smile

Exactly this. Its a bloody cambelt!! Its simple and will work fine providing you do the job properly and dont cut corners!

RE: Meet at Toms306? - procta - 07-01-2016

what a great idea!! you lads can chip in and buy tom his 1st takeaway!

I know 'how' to do it in theory. I just don't like doing things without specific values. Can torque bolts to exactly XXXNm, but '90 degrees with moderate pressure' on a belt will differ between people! Confused We already have one broken engine, why risk another when there are people (like yourself Tongue ) that have loads of experience doing them frequently lol.

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Eeyore - 08-01-2016

tom i really dont care if we get through engines. As long as we learn... from mistakes... its fine. Its a project we are doing not a customer car Tongue

RE: Meet at Toms306? - MY95 - 08-01-2016

Im in, Tom get the kettle on and tea and biscuits made... oh wait id have to bring my own kettle Tongue lol

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 08-01-2016

Lol, you wouldn't have to bring biscuits though, got a surplus of those since people kept buying them at xmas! Confused

Project car or not, rather not to be ruining £300 engines! If it was a HDi I wouldn't worry so much as they're only worth a fiver. lol What I learn from mistakes is to let someone else do it that knows what they're doing. Big Grin

RE: Meet at Toms306? - THE_Liam - 08-01-2016

So tempted to randomly crash this. Fancy a good roadtrip and I've never been to Suffolk.

That I know of anyway. Is it near that London?

RE: Meet at Toms306? - bashbarnard - 09-01-2016

No its a 2 hour drive to that London. Come down. Lu can have one of those northern conversations that i fail to give her.

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 09-01-2016

London!? This is farmer territory, none of that city shite here, we don't even have motorways in Suffolk. Tongue

London is more like a 5 hour trip because people enjoy crashing on the A12 and ruining everyone elses day. Quicker to go by train, but then you have to be near 'people' urgh...

Slightly OT but that's a great opportunity to learn a new skill and do a cambelt for the cost of parts, I'd jump at that.

RE: Meet at Toms306? - cully - 09-01-2016

id say give it a go be warned the auto data torque settings are wrong for the cam pulley bolt Wink
they have them swapped with the crank pulley bolt Big Grin

and you wonder why cam pullyes get broken!

RE: Meet at Toms306? - Toms306 - 09-01-2016

We don't all have autodata... Sad I use Haynes Torques, doubt they're all right either though lol.

I can teach you? It's not hard mate, just cut out half your words and complain about the price of stuff a lot. And if the rain is coming from above rather than sideways, say "reyt nice out today, getus me shorts love".
