anyone ever come across these? - Magenta Sunset - 19-12-2015 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XSARA-BERLINGO-PEUGEOT-206-306-PARTNER-LOWER-BALL-JOINT-PROTECTORS-X2-/321950890568?hash=item4af5c4ba48:g:akwAAOSwA4dWJ5EY ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - swampy - 19-12-2015 Yeah my s16 had them on when I got it RE: anyone ever come across these? - bashbarnard - 19-12-2015 yeah they were on most 306s as standard afaik, also on most new pugs and citroens aswell. once the balljoint has been out a few times though they get worse for wear and most people never out them back. RE: anyone ever come across these? - Toms306 - 19-12-2015 They all have them! ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - Magenta Sunset - 19-12-2015 ah! cheers guys ![]() secondary question, why & are they needed? RE: anyone ever come across these? - Niall - 19-12-2015 they are a heat shield to stop the heat from the disc melting the grease in the boot of the ball joint RE: anyone ever come across these? - Magenta Sunset - 19-12-2015 double ah! worth checking & refitting if missing then? RE: anyone ever come across these? - Niall - 19-12-2015 ideally worth fitting yes Do i use them? No Have i noticed any side affects? No RE: anyone ever come across these? - Magenta Sunset - 19-12-2015 now that's a valid point, and one thing less to bother about. ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - Mattcheese31 - 20-12-2015 (19-12-2015, 09:04 PM)Toms306 Wrote: They all have them! none of my 7 306's have had them lol RE: anyone ever come across these? - WiNgNuTz - 20-12-2015 (20-12-2015, 12:21 AM)Mattcheese31 Wrote:(19-12-2015, 09:04 PM)Toms306 Wrote: They all have them! Same as that, though I've only had 3. ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - Poodle - 20-12-2015 They should theoretically extend the life of your balljoints significantly, don't know how well they work in rl though. Most cars seem to have similar, so i presume they must work. You guys must manage to buy dogs where I only buy decent ones... ![]() I've bent so many of them trying to pop lower BJs out with chisels and crowbars over the years lol. ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - Jonny81191 - 20-12-2015 Unless you're getting your discs properly hot, I doubt you'd notice the difference. A lot of manufacturers have holes in the brake shield where the ball joint sits, and it's a lot closer than the 306 ones. If you can be bothered, run them. I really wouldn't get hung up on it though. RE: anyone ever come across these? - thododd - 20-12-2015 most get lost/damaged if a BJ/wishbone/hub is replace and as above, most people dont worry about breaking them and leaving the replacement BJ without. if you've still got them, its either never had its lower arms off or its seen some sympathetic mechanics in its time some of my AX/saxo/106's have also had them.... though, some have not and ive never noticed a problem from not having them fitting. RE: anyone ever come across these? - Magenta Sunset - 20-12-2015 thanks everyone. won't bother replacing them ![]() RE: anyone ever come across these? - Pgtips - 20-12-2015 Mine's still got the original balljoints/protectors on after 16.5 yrs so they must have some benefit & these are cheaper to buy from the dealers than the one you linked. RE: anyone ever come across these? - tigerstyle - 20-12-2015 just replaced both of mine with new ![]() were pretty torn up after all the miles! |
