Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 18-11-2015

Title kinda sums it up.

Having recently decided that lives too short to piss about driving boring cars after loosing a very close friend in a tragic car crash, I have sold the Dturbo and bought something me and him always talked of buying / building / saving.

No pictures as i viewed it in the dark

Yes it was found in a shed in herefordshire as im sure you all guessed and yes it was too good a bargain too pass up. lol

Heres a video from youtube of the car when it was owned by a mong, it is the mongs handywork i am now having to undo but fortunately the last owner made a cracking start then life / kids / mortgage etc got in the way.

Please note that despite the video title, the car does not have anti lag. Hence why i say Mong owned.

Quick spec from memory:

White Ph2 106 Gti Shell (originally diablo red)
Standard leather interior in good condition
OMP steering wheel
Boost / oil guages in pillar pod
266mm brakes
cyclones
lowered 60-80mm all round
pugsport 2" exhaust system

Now for the real goodies its fitted with:

Milltek turbo manifold & downpipe
Emerald K6 ecu
LAD motorsport JP4 cyl head reworked by Russ Tyler
Omega low compression forged pistons
PEC forged rods
reground crank and oversize shells
Lightened & balanced flywheel
Mocal 13row coller
Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate
Remote oil filter kit with braided lines
AH fabrications solid boost piping
AH fabrications Front mount intercooler
Switchable high and low boost maps

Fair bit more but will update this by friday once i have picked it up and got it back to the man cave.

Importantly it has an RR printout of 212bhp ATF for Low boost so should be pretty lively.

Matt

Love a good 106 gti. Bit small for daily use though. Epic cars none the less.

Also im sure they do a conversion thing to put a be box on these as the standard ones made of cheese

You're not the only one that has harped on about getting a 106 turbo, glad you've gone ahead and made it a reality Smile

Heaps of potential I'm sure! Assume it has got or is getting a cage?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Paul_13 - 18-11-2015

Be3r box off a TU engined Picasso I believ.

Need custom shafts, but I believe there's a company who does the kits

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt - 18-11-2015

Nice! Looking forward to seeing the pictures Wink turbo 106 should go like a stabbed rat!

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 18-11-2015

Thanks for positive comments chaps!

I'm using the megane for daily life,
The 106 won't be having a cage just yet but possibly once funds allow.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Niall - 18-11-2015

Jealous! Ive always wanted a 106 turbo! Should be epic.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 18-11-2015

I'm pretty sure the emerald kit is worth more than the £600 I have paid for the entire car.

ThumbsUp Big Grin

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Niall - 18-11-2015

Them K6 ECUs are £600 but can be a right pain to program apparently although they are a very good bit of kit!

I should move to Herefordshire...never find bargains like that locally!

That's my sort of track car tbh, light, petrol and boosted... Can't go wrong! Big Grin

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - silverzx - 19-11-2015

Nice find. Should be hell lot more fun then a '6 or DTub. Smile

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 19-11-2015

Herefordshire is only full of bargains as i have my name well established as collecting old shit peugeots and people always ring me up or pass my number around lol

I have known of this particular car for a long time but only recently been introduced to the last owner by pure chance, explained that i could see potential in the car and promised not to break it for bits so we agreed on £600 for the car. Receipts show he spent just shy of that amount on the intercooler and pipework alone...

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - bashbarnard - 19-11-2015

Fcs track slag next year?

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 19-11-2015

It'll be on track if i can be bothered, its predominantly a road car though.

If i wanted an all out track car i would be looking at high compression and throttle bodies

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - bashbarnard - 19-11-2015

Mine is predominantly a road car but ill definitely be on track next year there. Lol.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - silverzx - 19-11-2015

Gift at £600.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 19-11-2015

No it takes quite a while to earn £600 hence why i sold the dturbo to raise the cash, still a cheap car though.

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Frosty - 19-11-2015

Defo be an interesting project, should be a little weapon. Look forward to the pics

Excited much? :-)

RE: Matts 106 GTi Turbo. - Matt-Rallye - 20-11-2015

Just a tad! Needs a fair bit of work to get it going and i have been doing alot of research about the best turbo too use, as far as i can see for decent power etc i cant really do much better than the GT1752 thats on it, Standard saab 9-3 turbo so no shortage of them at work Tongue
