I should have more pics of this car!

Traded my Jag for this. Needs tidying up here and there. A manual conversion is a must!

RE: An 80s Nissan... - Mal - 14-11-2015

A few more details!

It is a twin turbo and I have been told it has had a power increase from a previous owner, only a shot on the dyno can verify this. Full boot from standstill in the wet is a handful and I love it Big Grin

It's been converted to a van..... Yes, I'm deadly serious. No back seats, all plylined and carpeted with a mesh divider. Because of the tax on this car would be €1494 for the year a few years ago there was a craze in Ireland getting cars like this and making them commercial to avail of the €333 tax. I have seen Mitsubishi GTOs and Supras suffer this! Even an AE86 locally had a full checker-plate conversion  Nospeak  This is the only Z I've seen commercialised (no I didn't do this to it nor would I do it to such a car!)

I haven't really done very much. Serviced, brakes changed, fluid changed to DOT5.1, radio torn out as it was draining the battery

Stuff that needs done:
  • Torque converter is wanked out
  • HICAS delete
  • Overhaul power steering
  • Tidy up the flappy bits of trim outside
  • Source and sort out petrol leak
  • Replace broken stud in the rear left hub

Further down the line
  • Install the hydro I have
  • Manual swap
  • Colour change
  • Turbo upgrades and FMIC install
  • New wheels
I still have other cars to sort out too aswell, it's finding the time to do all this  Sad

Y you quit boards? Big Grin does that qualify as a van anymore, I thought they had new stringent rules on loadspace to get rid of these bogus conversions?

RE: An 80s Nissan... - meridianman - 15-11-2015

Haha amazing, I'd never heard of that loophole before - beast of a work van!

RE: An 80s Nissan... - Poodle - 15-11-2015

Oh you jammy bugger, love these, keep us updated!

Just wondering why you are deleting HICAS system, you aren't taking it on the track are you?

The place became a cesspit for self entitled wankers and opinionated dickheads, along with arseholes that would come out of the woodwork to stir sh*t..... I am still there lurking, just not as my former self Wink

It's near enough to the vintage for me so I won't be classifying it as a commercial, plus it gives me time to sort it until then Big Grin

There are still a handful of these type of conversions out in the wild though haven't seen any recently on donkeydeal (lolvan)

As for deleting HICAS, its wanderly wagon on one side and rigid on the other. I have my eye on a driftworks kit that replaces everything I need to.

I forgot to add that I'll be increasing the lock as in standard guise it has the turning circle of a flatbed lorrey....!
