Yet another Oz based cab owner - puggered - 03-09-2015

Hi, been a lurker here for a while and thought I might as well say hi given the increasing number of cab owners on here now.
I have a 2001 Ph3 platinum silver cab with a hybrid gti-6 engine (no not the electric type Dodgy ) it's an xsi bottom end with a 6 top end. 6 speed auto after the AL4 died a few years ago.
Bought it new for the wife and now she's got my Type R  Undecided I get to play with it a bit.

I spend a bit of time on the 306 cab forum as well
and a pic taken with a potato

Welcome!
Car looks awesome. Would like more info on this 6 speed auto? Im pretty sure the standard AL4 boxes were 4 speed?

RE: Yet another Oz based cab owner - puggered - 06-09-2015

Thanks for welcome, although I apparently registered 2 years ago.

Niall,
the transmission is sort of similar to the 6 speed that's on Prince engines but it's not the same. I got it from a chinese transmission supplier as a generic box as it was supposed to be suitable for tiptronic control. I intend to change it for a 6 speed Holinger in the future. It's like the saying goes, Anything can be made to fit with enough time and money.

Nice, they haven't got a spare GT Sebring laying around that they don't want have they?
