Balancing wheels - cully - 23-05-2015

Im having a big problem ATM finding someone that can balance centre-less Alloys like cyclones

ive been doing some digging on the net and have found a system called Bead balancing
where you add beads to the inside of the tyre and they balance as you drive

im finding it a little hard to fathom but a lot of the off-road boys seem to use it with good results

would it work on the centre-less alloys?

has anyone any experience of this system?

RE: Balancing wheels - Connor - 23-05-2015

There was a thread on here not so long ago about those

RE: Balancing wheels - Toms306 - 23-05-2015

There was indeed, by 306Dan or Dan306 or something iirc. lol

I don't see why you're having that much trouble though, any major chain tyre garage should be able to do them, it's mainly the independents that can't. I found the guy at ATS was best at balancing cyclones round here.

RE: Balancing wheels - cully - 23-05-2015

just fell out with the guy at ATS he said he didn't do centre-less on Saturdays as it takes to much time setting the machine up!

he said that while his feet were on the desk and eating Mc Donalds.........PRICK!

found the other thread too

RE: Balancing wheels - Dum-Dum - 23-05-2015

ATS refuse to fit and balance tyres you haven't bought from them and balancing alone from them is silly expensive.

RE: Balancing wheels - Seb_Ryan - 23-05-2015

It takes about 10 minutes to set machine up lol but yeah any others should do it..

RE: Balancing wheels - cully - 23-05-2015

not even like he had to take the wheels off the car they were already loose!

My ats aren't like that they fit and balance all my wheels even my slicks.

RE: Balancing wheels - Dum-Dum - 23-05-2015

Just looked at them dynabeads, not to be used on profiles less than 65, not to be used in racing or high speed cornering

Price is very good though, cheaper than having them done at ATS

RE: Balancing wheels - Toms306 - 23-05-2015

I must admit I used to get tyres fitted and balanced to loose cyclones at ATS (not their own tyres) for a fiver each inc centreless balancing! The latest time I asked though they weren't doing any more cash in hand jobs, I guess they've been told off for it... Sad He just suggested other places for me to try lol.

Should've let him sit there with his feet and ask to use the machine yourself, balancing is really easy anyway lol. Plus it doesn't take anywhere near 10 mins to fit the adapter if they use the machine as our local ATS, less than 2 I'd say!

RE: Balancing wheels - cully - 23-05-2015

the more I think on how ATS dealt with me I've decided to fire off a complaint

"called in to day to get a price and have 4 wheels balanced.
asked whether they balanced centre-less Alloy wheels to which the answer was "NO NOT ON SATURDAYS"
I have had centre-less balanced on Saturdays there before i said to the "TEAM" behind the desk
the reply was " it takes up too much time setting the machine up"

please realise these guys where feet up on desks eating what looked like fast food with an empty workshop!
I do understand people have to eat but the customer charm was surely lost in the trough they were eating from

I do honestly think your employees don't want to work for your company as they have a very poor attitude to customer service and no enthusiasm to work

I am also confused why Saturday is different from any other day of the week

thank you
very disappointed customer
Paul

My local ATS have always done mine for me, I regularly buy my own tyres and go in to have them done.

They only ever charge me 'enough for a couple of beers' too.

Kwik shit usually have the adapter to balance centreless wheels. They are ok to use your own tyres as well.

RE: Balancing wheels - cully - 24-05-2015

will try them on the way to work today Smile

Take photos of condition beforehand in case they are damaged during fitting. Certain branches are pretty bad for employees rushing through everything and not giving a f*ck.

RE: Balancing wheels - cully - 24-05-2015

i know the condition as ive just painted the rims Smile but like you say picture evidence is good too

RE: Balancing wheels - toseland - 24-05-2015

Takes too long, is hollow atbest, it takes about 30seconds to remove the post and put the entered hub on the for centre less..

My friend does it.

Dynabeads are excellent, a lot of the off-road guys use them in the large mud tyres because the weight needed is large and the weights tend to come off in harsher off-road environments..

Google dynabeads on YouTube there is a bottle one
