GT2560LS Too Big? - Chris - 25-04-2012 Doing a bit of research and was wondering if a 2560LS would be a tad too big for the DT? Just wondering as they can be picked up pretty cheap and should be easy to fit with there exhaust hosing design. Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Ruan - 26-04-2012 What's it off? Depends totally on the A/R - technically that should be a good turbo, but as said earlier, depends what it's off, if it's off a 7.0l Diesel or a 300hp petrol, it'll be useless, the A/R will be massive, it'll just lag and lag until it finally gets going, then be 2 seconds of awesome and the pump will run out of puff.... Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Chris - 26-04-2012 I've tried to find the a/r but with no luck, some more rersearching will be needed, its from a mk1 frs 210bhp 2.0 turbo petrol, but there good for 3/330 in there original aplication. I'm realisticly looking for ~180bhp with a quickish spool but still good for 5.5-6krpm also been considering a 52 or 56s in 20 or 22 frames also. Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Ruan - 26-04-2012 You've got to consider the powerband below that, it'd end up that it starts at 3k and then goes to 6k - where from 4k the Bosch VE is tapering it's fuel down... When you could have made it that you'd have 95% of that power from 2k until 5.5k - with less strain on the engine, injection pump blah... If anything I'd say it's a bit big, you can get a GT2056S which is literally perfect for these engines for around the same price and the power would be SO much better... Unless you had a pump test rig, knew exactly what you were doing to make the pump fuel reliably until 6k, not bog out etc, then go for the 2560LS - but otherwise, you'd make 95% of the power with a 2056S and with a quarter of the ballache of making it rev to 6k... My 2052V will do pretty much 200hp, take 10-15hp off that as it's a WG turbo and add 500rpm onto the spool... 2056 should do 220-230 if you can hold things together and make the pump provide the fuel without stupid EGTs... If you're going for a 56mm and going for crazy power, you'd probably be better off with a GT22 frame, keep your EGTs and EMPs down. Obviously the 2056S is better for midrange power, it can shift a massive quantity midrange, but you'd find you'll need to keep the boost down, or you'll cook things. From the Dyno on my car, it's peak power was at 4400rpm, that's only a "baby" 2052v... You'd probably find that was the pump dying off in actuality! Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Chris - 26-04-2012 Lots of info there Ruan. What sort of rpm does yours spool at? Ideally would like usable boost from 2k, with peak coming in around 2.5k maybe? I'm thinking a 52 would spool up say 300 rpm earlier than a 56 but not give you as much flow getting onto the 5k range, raising the EGT and EMP higher up the rev range. Ideally I'm looking at keeping south of the 200 mark retaining a 9mm pump. Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Ruan - 26-04-2012 Mine spools so quickly it surges before it gets going... If the head flowed it and you set the start screw in enough, you could shove 20lbs down the inlet at 1700rpm... But the head simply won't let it through so it just surges... Essentially you've got full power from about 2400rpm with the head as standard, but I even have to keep it from producing too much torque down there with the throttle, or I just end up slipping the clutch or stretching the head studs... About 3k it's fully into it's stride, it'll go until 4800 and you do feel it die past there, but it's more the pump than the turbo, the boost never drops until the fuel does. If you're looking for sort of 170-180, 9mm.. GT2052S for certain... Stupidly quick spool for it's size, I'd say you'd have full torque from about 2600rpm, holding the power 'till 5k.... I've always said GT2052S or GT2056S is perfect for these engines... Re: GT2560LS Too Big? - Chris - 29-04-2012 Gonna be looking at one of the 52s off a 2.2 diesel. Would be really easy to fit too. Cant find the a/r for it but have the dimensions of the turbine exd and ind, and the compressor exd cant find the ind anywhere. They are 40, 47, 52.2 respectively I've also got one of the Iveco Ko3's hdi power has fitted on his hdi. Looking at it compared to the 52s spec wise it looks a good size although a tad smaller. Got some details on it and was wondering if you think it would be suitable. Turbine; ind 45, exd 40.33 trim 80.32 - Comp; ind 37.8, exd 51 trim 54.93 Again cant find the a/r for it. Admittedly the last one had chronic boost through it but it was insane, plant your foot at 30mph in 3rd and the wheels just lit up ![]() One day thinking of stealing a 60mm coldside from a 2260 but need to get this working right first. Also have concerns over pressure ratios with the 60 given that the 56 seems to like snapping shafts at high-20's psi. Its not quite that simple! I suggest you do some more reading. A good start point is garretts own website. although a 2560 is taking the pisscuit on an xud imo. And if you honestly can't find one, you're not searching properly/hard enough. Should be a few knocking about, but I suspect it being a case of budget? In which case it will help you to know which vehicles have your turbo, and search them up instead. And the ones I can see are wastegate. |
