Gearbox oil - Deangatt - 27-04-2015 Hey, I'm currently changing the clutch gearbox and flywheel in my hdi and was just looking to know what your guys opinions or experience with gearbox oil what would be best to go for. Thanks in advance RE: Gearbox oil - zx_volcane - 27-04-2015 2 litres of Total BV 75w80 or drop into a pug dealer and ask them for it - although saying that, last time I went into my local and asked for it they were no longer carrying it, and were unwilling to order it in RE: Gearbox oil - bashbarnard - 27-04-2015 I used the Halfords stuff in mine last time as it was Sunday and needed to finish the car. Its fine tbh cant see the difference. Yet... Had genuine pug stuff before. RE: Gearbox oil - Poodle - 27-04-2015 Having used alternatives i'd stick with the genuine stuff, everything else i put in the cabby resulted in crunchy changes. That said, i only used cheap motor factor stuff the first time and halfords the second, so could just be cheap motorfactor gear oil that isn't worth the trouble. RE: Gearbox oil - td163 - 27-04-2015 I got some of the recommended stuff from here: https://www.nielsencdg.co.uk/acatalog/Total-Transmission-BV-75W80-Citroen-Peugeot-Gear-Box-Oil-4L-TOT_149980_4.html Nice price too. RE: Gearbox oil - Toms306 - 27-04-2015 It's a new (superseeding) part number now, but its still the same stuff for most psa manual boxes according to my local dealer. The weight is slightly different also, I made a thread about in guides I think. Gearbox oil - zx_volcane - 27-04-2015 Can admin make that post a sticky? Good useful info, and a question that prob comes up regularly RE: Gearbox oil - Iceman299 - 27-04-2015 I used genuine oil from the dealer, ~£7/litre inc vat RE: Gearbox oil - Deangatt - 27-04-2015 Had to get cheap oil (carlube I think) from motor factors but only to get the car on the road after a I get it sorted il be getting genuine just to be safe over the odds of a few quid RE: Gearbox oil - zx_volcane - 27-04-2015 (27-04-2015, 09:22 PM)Deangatt Wrote: Had to get cheap oil (carlube I think) from motor factors but only to get the car on the road after a I get it sorted il be getting genuine just to be safe over the odds of a few quid genuine pug stuff really isn't even expensive, thats the beauty of it. totally oem oil, and doesn't empty your wallet. just need to get around any incompetent service staff you may encounter.
